One of the Greatest Screams in Metal. Those first three or four Bride releases are simply amazing. It is because these guys were signed to a Christian Label, while Stryper was signed to a mainstream label. The Christian bands simply didn't have exposure. Bloodgood was another great band.

Dale has the best screams. I saw them 8 times in concert. I remember seeing them the first time and I was thinking there was no way he could hit those notes LIVE. GUESS what he did. He is an amazing singer and the music is awesome as well.

Thumbs up to these guys hailing from Louisville, KY...not too far across the Ohio River from where I grew up in Indiana. Bonus points to you, dear Shane, for the Kenny Loggins break! This was much more appealing to me than the other Bride song you did (Heroes)...a good solid rocker and if I didn't know any better, I would not take this for Christian metal....

I love Bride and have been a fan since 1987. I have seen Bride 7 times in concert and have met Dale Thompson briefly at least twice. Dale and Troy never cease to amaze me with great new music. They just keep going and going like the energizer bunny. You should check out their album called Snakes in the Playground.

Really great song. Dale has excellent vocal abilities, and whilst his vocal register has dropped a bit over the years, their still pumping out some brilliant albums. Their latest (Here Is Your God) is really good. I'd love to see you review Tourniquet's Broken Chromosomes. That's a top tune, with a really good message. Loving your reviews!

You're right about lack of exposure. Most Christian metal bands in the 80s and early 90s didn't have distribution beyond Christian book stores. They were either signed to small independent labels, or genre oriented sub-divisions of larger Christian labels. Stryper, Holy Soldier, Guardian, Barren Cross, and possibly X-Sinner were the only exceptions that I recall. Evidently though Bride has a strong following in Brazil.
@rickbelk68443 жыл бұрын
Right on that GE-21 and Shane about the exposure. I grew up in the 80s in an ultra conservative family where "southern gospel" was the only acceptable music to listen to. I strayed when I found Whiteheart, Rez Band and Petra in the local Christian music store. A lot of the "rock" from those days haven't aged well, but they laid the groundwork for some of the better talent to come out of non-main stream labels with "Christian" backgrounds.

I didn't think I'd like this one as much as I did. "Silence Is Madness" not my favorite Bride album by any means, but hearing it again after so many years-- not bad. Not bad at all. Cool. Keep it going.

Bride is a solid band with a great vocalist in Dale Thompson. They definitely had a huge following in the Christian metal scene in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Would love to see a reaction to “Would You Die for Me” or “Psychedelic Super Jesus” from the album “Snakes in the Playground”.

For MORE 80s Christian metal.... "Stranger" from Holy Soldier's self entitled. Or "Virtue and Vice" from the next album "Last Train". For something fresh check out Theocracy "Ghost Ship" or "I Am". Aegis Project is a group of 4 songs I think with performers from different bands. "Million Miles Away" is just...... .Bride was never my cup of tea at the time but can definitely respect them.

Nice! And a nice little message here. You mentioned Stryper having the lions share of attention in the Christian metal world. That’s probably true. But I’m thinking these guys are actually better. I’m not very familiar with them, but they certainly deserve a second listen!
@777Nesher3 жыл бұрын
You have a lot more music to get through with Bride and its all better than anything Stryper has done. Granted Stryper did offer Dale Thompson too take over for Michael Sweet when he quit stryper. He did end up fronting Stryper for a live show.

strong Judas Priest feel on this track. Some others have a Nazareth sound. Bride's tour for Snakes In The Playground, they played Six Flags Over Georgia Amphitheatre. They were the LOUDEST band I have ever seen, but the music was crystal clear, not muddy. Total Brilliance. Shane you should give Psychedelic Super Jesus a listen from their Snakes In The Playground. They lay down some hard rock mixed with some funky stuff
