Bridge Deck Removal using Concrete Cutting for Demolition

This video demonstrates the process of removing a bridge deck using concrete cutting as a precision means of demolition. The work was done on Greenwood Avenue Bridge Over Route 24 in Madison, NJ.

Nice bridge strategy all the way around. I seen so many guys jam up and squealing belts trying to cut concrete like that, you've got a really good and fast operator there. That was a pleasure to watch him work that saw. The only thing I didn't like was now cutting backwards is no longer a secret. Nice job guys.

The lifting devices used are really slick. Are they proprietary and custom fabricated or is there a vendor out there producing these? I've looked around and have not found anything similar.

yea it is thats why hes going back and forth. so much rebar means u have to do that many more passes cause you can only cut so much each pass.

Is that saw cutting through the rebar too? I cant seem to see it in the video. Doesn't there need to be some rebar at least for temperature and shrinkage?

Piece popped out nicely. Those lifting lugs are great. Back cutting to stop getting jammed in the re-bar, same all over the world I guess. Stick your night work, double the cost, more dangerous due to fatigue and poor visiblility. Being tied off whilst operating a roadsaw is frightening with spinning shafts, blades and what not. These guys are skilled operators, not cowboys. OHS wankers!

OSHA VIOLATION - NO ONE IS TIED OFF NEAR AN OPEN HOLE!! THEN IT IS CUT CLEAN AND SOME IDIOT WALKS ACROSS IT? ONLY IN NEW JERSEY WOULD THEY SHUT DOWN TRAFFIC DURING THE DAY. WHAT NO ONE WORKS AT NIGHT?
