I don't know if leaches are a big thing up there , but a big beef bone is a good bait for catching them . No traps , just a large bone on a rope is all that's needed !! Me and my grandfather did a lot of fishing together and he taught me so much . We never bought any bait . we caught it ! Leaches are very hard to remove from the hook and a good bait . You seem to like the jig head with a night crawler for bait ! Try a jig head with a leach . It won't drown and they are very active ! Seems most species will go after them !!!

Got a real good thing I do Stash Man when I youse Craws take the hook to the closest plase to his back shell , bring the hook all the way threw till you see the line you can go all the way threw if you want , it’s better to have good lively craws and leave the pinchers on , when a fish comes at that craw it’s will rays it’s pinchers up and that will trigger the fish to strike it and when it dose your hook is maxed exspossed and you got that fish wish I could send you a picture of how to hook the craw , great watching you Josh hope you and the family are doing great , Your friend from the hills and hollers of Kentucky , Have a good 1 !
