Wonderful! I always assumed you need to reach game before playing Blackwood but I realize now that I was wrong.Thank you for this information!! I have seen often in videos players bidding 3NT instead of 5 of a minor. What is your opinion on that?

Oh JD you have touched on one of my favourite issues. 3NT is a great contract and worth some risk because it requires only 9 tricks. But, many players seem to totally avoid minor suit contracts and always play 3NT instead. In my view this is crazy. I have scored extremely well by playing a minor suit game when most others played 3NT and went down. Ideally, you should only play 3NT when you know you have stoppers in all the suits. The best way to do this is to use the 4th suit forcing convention. I do have a video on it, but it is in the Extensions series, because it uses an artificial bid which can be misinterpreted by inexperienced partners. Of course, you need more points to play a minor suit game, so sometimes you will play a part game minor suit contract while others play 3NT. If you make yours and they fail, you are still ahead.
