hi Richy, Newly subscribed tonight. i visited thailand exactly a year ago and this video has brought back a lot of memories. i spent the first night in bangkok..then traveled to Kanchanaburi on the same train as you. i only intended on staying three days but fell for the place big time and spent the whole two weeks there. i wanted to go and see the sights and pay my respects to those poor lads who had given so much. i found it very moving and felt myself just wanting to be around those poor souls and it made me feel like they had not been forgotten . there is also plenty enough to do for night time entertainment. this is a great video you have made about those poor chaps so far from home. i salute you sir. lest we forget.

Hi Vinny, thank you for subscribing and the nice comment. It is a beautiful province Kanchanaburi and such lovely people. The history is heartbreaking to see but extremely inspiring to learn the resilience POW’s overcome in the face of adversity. They shall never never be forgotten🙏🏻

Great video, Kanchanaburi is a great place, I never understand why it's not more on peoples' agenda when they visit Thailand.

Thank you mate, that’s really good to hear. It wasn’t an easy vlog to make, heartbreaking reading right into the history.

Hi Richy, i have crossed that bridge many times over the years but not for a while now though. When i used to visit all those covered gaps to left and the right where open to a drop in the river. very scary, thanks mate another great vlog.

Hi Billy, I first come in 2006 and I can’t remember to be honest. It does sound scary though, I like Thailand for their lack of safety as it lets people think for themselves. Thanks mate

As you enter the cemetery, their is a book of names in the cupboard on the left, so you can find your relative. I looked up anyone with my rare family name "Reason" and found a soldier who was captured in Java but ended up in Kanchanaburi. Your name "Wilkinson", you would have several graves to visit, possibly British, Australian and New Zealand. The War Graves Commission keep these cemeteries looking great. ODD FACT: The bridge over the river was dismantled in Java and then transported to Kancanaburi and re-erected. It's nothing like the movie! Best wishes.

Hi David, thanks for that. I have a friend who lives in Kanchanaburi. His grandfather died on the Railway, he’s currently getting all the information he can find out and writing a book on it.
