this was one of those many 2000s era disney movies, and it manages to be some of the best cinema I have ever seen. top 3 movies of all time for me, I just love it.

I watched this first time yesterday. I am actually 32 years old. I still can't get this movie out of my mind. Total and awfully unexpected.

It tricks you into thinking its a film about being young and having imagination. Then it punches you in the gut about accepting death an all the ways of dealing with it. Great film.

I never read the book, but I remember I was watching this movie on the TV thinking it was a cute and happy film about two friends making up an imaginary world and *spoilers* the scene where the parents announced that his friend died, my mum walked in and starting immediately asking questions "what happened? what happened?" while I held up my hand telling her to stop in just complete shock, it kind of destroyed the scene for me, but the scene where his religious Dad catches him in the forest and Jesse sobs about his friend 'going to hell' while his Dad reassures him (my mum had left the room by that time) that's when I broke down in tears.

Unfortunately Leslie was killed because the writer of the book has a son and he also had a friend who died at 9 years old. So it's basically a tribute. It's based on a true story..

as a person in my mid 20s, growing up with a useless father, the scene where the 'monster' is chasing him who turns out to be his father hits me very hard
@Metzwerg74 Жыл бұрын
but his father was not useless.... he just was preoccupied by his financial problems, to provide for his family.... when he was needed, he was there...
