Does the meter have to be plugged in or does it have a battery so it can be used when youre 30 feet in the air with no outlet near by?

It does indeed have a battery! That would be awful.....50ft extension cord powering that unit up. Any tester is really fine....just we have a couple. The biggest factor on pointing cameras....the customers signing off on the views. That can be time consuming when 50+ cameras on a site. It happens alot on apartment complexes we do.

Do you have to configure the camera first, or can you hook it up to the cctv tester right out of the box?

Our experience with HikVision and Geo Cameras is just plug in and you can see across them. I'm sure cameras vary....affordable fast solution for us!

Thanks for replying back. I asked bc I have a cctv tester and I followed those steps and after I ping it never say "Camera Is Ready" it still says Camera is booting.
