This was such a beautiful share, I can feel the vulnerability in your voice! I’m booked for an induction very soon and I’ll be 37 weeks I’m praying baby boy comes along before then! But hearing this story! I’m going to try my hardest to have the midwife work with me or not help at all! You made me realise the importance of having the right people surrounding you! You’re trauma has positively impacted me, so thank you x

Ugh, I’m so so sorry for the trauma you experienced! Pregnancy is such a vulnerable time already and it truly truly makes such a difference to have a midwife, nurse, etc that is compassionate and reassuring because at the end of the day we are literally entrusting them with not just our lives but our babies life as well! And I really think that because pregnancy is seen as a “well millions of women do it” people forget just how much you’re really putting into these healthcare professionals hands and that you’re still a person and it doesn’t matter how many other women give birth as well things happen! And your state of mind during labor ABSOLUTELY can contribute* to how labor progresses and birth goes. Of course there are always things that can happen out of our control! However, like you said when you were begging to just get the baby out safely that you couldn’t take the emotional roller coaster anymore and them basically TELLING you not ASKING you when each step came along. Had they changed how they said things or been more reassuring I doubt you would have panicked like you did and things would have been different! And I’m not trying to blame anyone! It’s just there are sooo many studies that clearly show the correlation between COMPASSIONATE care and more positive outcomes! Not just with labor and delivery! But across the board when it comes to medicine! As humans we want connection we want reassurance to be able to reassure ourselves! ESPECIALLY in such a vulnerable time as giving birth! I’m just really sorry for your experience and while I’m glad you and baby were healthy in the end that doesn’t take away or make your experience any less valid! Take care 💜

How do you feel now you've told your story in this way? I felt so much better after saying it out loud and making it public for anyone to watch/hear. As you know, I'm not far off having number 3 so am not able to watch this in its entirety right now (self preservation after the last birth) but wanted to comment and say that it's so good to see more people sharing their stories. I do promise to watch it fully once this little madam graces us with her presence.

I recognize many of the things you talk about. Poor treatment from personel is just so hurtfull. I think it is important to tell the bad stores also... So people can decide before they are pushed i to all kinds of things

Wow thank you so much for sharing this story. Did you have to fast for any of the blood tests? I have had itching and had a lover function test and then i had to fast for a bile acid test. Both my tests came out normal but I still have itching

Bile acid tests are supposed to be done NOT fasting.... thats really odd.... because they peak after eating.... i see this is a few months ago so I hope you had a happy ending and all was well! I am 31 weeks 4 days. Have an induction scheduled for 37 weeks due to Cholestasis and the blood tests are not supposed to be done after fasting.... so that is strange to me that they asked you to fast for that test....

@@LeftieLoosie thanks so much for getting back to me. Yes in Ireland they ask you to fast for the test. Thankfully everything turned out really well I was induced 38 weeks due IUGR. She is doing really well. I wish you the very best of luck with your induction!

Being induced makes your labor contractions So much worse! I’ve had 2 and was horrible, even the epidural didn’t work after like 20 min.
