The brilliance of this movie is that _every single event is foreshadowed..._ but it definitely takes more than one viewing to catch everything, all the foreshadowing and the call-backs - _so many_ callbacks - it's masterfully done

You couldn't be more correct! I think that World's End uses the same idea but as references for new jokes? Hot Fuzz just goes straight for the "obvious" callback every time. (For reference: I much prefer Hot Fuzz, but I AM biased 😅)

It's called the Cornetto Trilogy because there's a Cornetto or mention of Cornetto ice cream in each movie. Other than that, there are no narrative similarities. It's so stupid but kind of hilarious in its own right.

Olivia Coleman one of the finest actors of her generation playing the token female officer and spending the whole film making smutty jokes in the background is just brilliant. You know she had a blast doing this. Any Americans watching this should try playing spot the actor. It's a who's who of British legends half the cast were in either GOT or the harry potter franchise and the head of the NWA was the original equaliser.

Part of the joke about the farmer having all those weapons is that after WWII especially in central and eastern Europe, there are tons of remnants of WWII all over farms especially near creeks that nobody goes to. There are KZbin channels of excavators right now getting permission to search farmers land and finding all kinds of guns, unexploded artillery, equipment, and human remains with insignia from shelling. In England specifically old sea mines would occasionally wash up but most common were unexploded V2 rockets. A London subway terminal had to be shut down during renovations because they found an unexploded V2 or v1 buzz bomb from many years ago that nobody knew about

The reason Juliet was wearing wings is because in the 1996 movie Romeo + Juliet, starring Leo DICaprio and Claire Danes, she wore them for a costume party. The theater group apparently were basing their production off that. Thats where the song at the end came from too. The movie was set in modern day but all the dialogue was the same as the original Shakespeare.

If you're English, this film is even funnier. Since each accent is authentic to the English countryside. For Americans, most are use to hearing the typical posh accent, such as Tony Blair or other's that are more easy for Americans to understand. If you ever go out into the rural areas of the UK, most of the people will be hard for you to understand, since even other Brits can barely understand the typical "country" accent.

We have villages in the U.S. too, and I believe there are towns in England. I think this is a size thing (ready to be corrected--will probably google later). Even when you fill out your taxes in the U.S., you have to select City of, Town of, or Village of.

@HuntingViolets yes we have both. That was a village though, not a town so I was just explaining. We also have hamlets in the UK. A town can have a whole range of places to worship or meet.

The Romeo and Juliet scene, basically everything about it, is taken from the Romeo + Juliet 1996 movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, which took the play and put it into modern times with guns in California. The costumes as pretty spot on from the movie, and the song that they sang at the end of the play was in the film (maybe the end credits? I forget). The joke is that instead of performing Shakespeare at the theater in town, they performed the movie instead.

I think Shaun of the Dead is the best at the genre it's tackling. Hot Fuzz is the fan favorite, and for very good reason; it's a riot! The World's End is the most mature of the three, and the one least connected to the other two, but it's also my favorite. I think of the three flavours Cornetto like the Klondike ice cream bars with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry all in one, which I don't believe they've made for some years, so I've just confused the matter further.

My favourite is Hot Fuzz, and I think the first two really were better than the third in creative gut-busting comedy terms ... But, I do love The World's End, as well, and I think it had a genuine pathos with Pegg's ultimately-broken goth character that wasn't matched in the other films. A great final addition that helped display the full spectrum of Pegg & Wright's comedic writing talent. Would highly recommend all three to anybody.

@@mchmch6185 - Straight up, as much as it's my favorite, I also think The World's End is the weakest if we're placing it with the trilogy. I lowkey love Timothy Dalton! He's been brilliant in everything he's ever been in. He even made a great James Bond (seeing as how he's the only real actor among the bunch). He was deliciously villainous in this.

For some reason, in my mind I thought this was like the Police Academy movies and never even considered watching it, but whoa, it looks so good! I recognized so many classic British actors from films and PBS, including Walder Frey and John Watson. Now I’m going to have to track it down and watch the whole thing. Love your reactions, always. Peace …

You guys should definitely finish off the Cornetto Trilogy with The World’s End! It is personally my favourite out of the three since it still manages to be really fun and funny while diving into deep themes and the genre switch makes it feel so fresh! Hot Fuzz was amazing as well but I can’t get over how awesome The World’s End is!

Hot Fuzz is probably my favourite. You should definitely react to The World's End. Btw - as well as Cate Blanchette playing Janine, Peter Jackson was Father Christmas. Also, the guy in the shop near the end was the director, Edgar Wright - a very talented man.

14:00 - it's meant to look like Danny was about to kiss him XD During production, they removed a female love interest for Nicholas, and gave all her dialogue to Danny instead. 'Love themes' for the pair were also kept in during musical edits; so much of this thing reads like a rom-com, because they're working with the original material, but also riffing off the trope of homoeroticism in buddy comedies.

There are no loose ends in this movie and that is amazing for a fast paced action comedy. An underappreciate foreshadowing is that farmers and their mums have guns...they are the first people Angel fights when arriving back at the village.

I own the series (along with PAUL). This is my favorite of the 3. So well written, produced and edited. And go look at the IMDB cast list on this movie because of it almost being as stacked as an old episode of The Love Boat. My favorite being Billie Whiteclaw who was the inn keeper (HAG!). She most famously played Mrs. Blaylock, the deranged nanny in the original The Omen.

The Worlds End is the name of a pub in Camden, London - used as the name for the final pub on the crawl in Newton Haven and the name of the film. All three films have their own strengths and weaknesses. Hot Fuzz is arguably the most pooular. Shaun needs to grow up, Nicolas needs to find a work life balance and Gary needs to find something to live for; giving the last film more emotional weight. All good in their own way 👍

Hot Fuzz is one of my all-time favorites. In 2007, I worked in England for about 6 months and almost no one had heard of it, including a PC (Police Constable) who I dated and most of her fellow officers! It just wasn't marketed over there. I ended up buying 6 or 7 copies for her and her co-workers. I thought that was unacceptable that an English police officer NOT own a copy!
