When they were casting the roles, they got to Skinner's character. They described who they wanted, and basically joked Timothy Dalton would be perfect, but that would never happen. Then someone said " Why don't we just ask him.??" To everyone's surprise and delight he loved the script and said yes

Fun fact. All the swans in England are technically owned by the reigning British Monarch (currently King Charles III, but it was Queen Elizabeth II at the time this movie was released). That's why even the villains wouldn't risk killing one by driving into it. They may have been horribly petty murderers but they were still loyal subjects of Her Majesty the Queen. ;)

"My, my, here come the Fuzz." Fun Fact: When in costume, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg often were assumed to be police officers. Many strangers asked them for directions, and instead of telling the truth they went along with it. Cameos Cameos Fact: Nicholas' ex-girlfriend Jeanine at the crime scene is Cate Blanchett. The Santa that stabs Nicholas is Peter Jackson. P. I. Staker is Stephen Merchant, best known in America as the voice of Wheatley in Portal 2 (2011). The judges for the Best Kept Village competition near the end of the film are played by Peter Wild and the mothers of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. Actor's Actor Fact: The filming of Angel and Skinner's first meeting at the supermarket was filmed over the course of two days. The conversation was filmed entirely from Timothy Dalton's perspective first. The next day, early in the morning, they were to film the conversation with Angel's perspective and close-ups. Dalton, much to the surprise of the crew, showed up early the next morning, and even though he wasn't going to be on camera for that particular portion of the filming, he sat off-camera in Skinner's chair and played the role so that Simon Pegg would be able to have him to work with while filming his part as Angel. Pegg stated it really showed Dalton's professionalism.

The animal in the riot room was a hedgehog! They are common all over Great Britain apart from inner cities. Generally meek and lovable, though I once (along with a random woman who was passing) saw one fighting a toad and the screams and violence left us staring in shock. Then both of them turned as one, noticed us. looked shocked and ran away as if we weren't supposed to see that. We (me and the stranger) looked at each other almost speechless, said a few incoherent things and then went on our ways, with a sort of 'did that really happen?' / ''let us never speak of this' thing. Hedgehogs. Also, spiky.

That creature in the riot room - that is a hedgehog. As you may notice, they aren't blue, nor do they move at lightning speed. They DO however explode into gold rings when they get run over. They come into gardens at night and snuffle around munching on slugs and worms. They aren't particularly scared of humans and will come up to you and sniff around you. When scared, they curl into a ball and use their spikes for defence. They can be uncomfortable to pick up or hold but are otherwise harmless and a joy to see snuffling around saving cabbages from being eaten by slugs.

I live near the town where this was filmed. The strong local accent that has to be translated is pretty accurate. It took me almost 3 months to understand what my neighbour was talking about, as i had to tune into the accent when i moved into the area😂.

Awesome reaction J Man 🙌! Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are like the British version of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly (but with a little more seriousness in the diet). Both of them are classic duos.

This movie will still be funny 60 years from now. It's just so well put together. There's so many little moments that just kill me. And I love that it's a play on action films, hence all the references throughout. Longtime fans of Wright's will notice some of the original SPACED cast peppered in. Something he does often in his films. He likes to use lots of the same actors in his films. That shows he's most likely a good friend because he takes care of his people, in front of and behind the camera. The man is a class act. I wish Pegg and Frost teamed up more often. They're chemistry is unmistakable. They're a modern day Laurel and Hardy. I could go on and on about this film. It's awesome, team EOM is awesome. Keep it going guys!

I second that! You must be familiar with various sci-fi movies to get some of the jokes and scenes, but it is worth it. (Hey JL have you seen Close Encounters of the Third Kind"? You should watch it if you haven't. It is classic Spielberg!)

One bit of trivia: the old man who was in the NWA complaining about the living statue and who shot Ed at the end, was British actor Edward Woodward, who was the original 'Equalizer' in the 1980s tv series, about a vigilante ex-secret agent who helped people out when they couldn't get enough help from law enforcement. Denzel Washington's 'Equalizer' is based on the same character, even keeping the same name of Robert McCall.

That creature is a hedgehog, that's what Sonic looks like in real life ;) The movie has some interesting cameos, the stabbing santa is Peter Jackson, the director of Lord of the Rings-movies, the girlfriend that breaks up is Cate Blanchett and the guy she was seeing is this movie's director Edgar Wright. You should definitely watch Point Break (the original, not the crappy remake that nobody remembers about)

This is my favorite movie, it has everything. The first draft of this movie had a love interest in it for Angel, but they decided to scrap that and gave all that person’s lines to Butterman instead. Anytime it’s time to go somewhere I tell my son “little hand says it’s time to rock and roll” - love this movie. Easily the best of the trilogy.
