There are sooo many modern body language experts that have watched these trials and they ALL say that there’s no way the brothers were acting. There was real trauma there and you really dont have to be an expert to see that. These actors did a great job too but I just hate that Ryan Murphy had to throw in the other scenes showing his clear bias towards thinking they made it up. Because he added things that didn’t even come up in the real life situation

I know it's not something you usually react to, but I would love it if you could react to the documentary that was recently released on Netflix, which talks about the case and includes new interviews with the brothers. The series isn't exactly bad, but it is very limited and can give a distorted view of the story if you don't have prior knowledge of the case. I believe you would enjoy the documentary.

I tried to be polite but I really fucking hate this episode 😭They show all these scenes of them rehearsing what they're going to say, and it becomes clear to us that they're acting during the testimony. But if you watch the real testimonies, there's no doubt that they were telling the truth. I think Nicholas and Cooper did a great job in these roles, but even with all the emotion they display, it's very clear that it's a performance. The lines are the same, but in my opinion, they can't even come close to the emotion that Lyle and Erik convey in the real testimonies.

Ryan Murphy needs to realize this isn’t a WATTPAD story. It’s a story of real people. I get he’s trying to say “well these are things the public believed at the time” but it just feels so gross and feels like their trying to make the audience even question the abuse stories they told in ep 5 and at the end of ep 4. It just rubs me the wrong way on sooooo many levels. The testimony on the stand definitely made me cry though. Even if I have a problem with the writing at times the actors truly do make you feel it. I mean even the extras that played the jurors killed it with their faces trying to hold back their tears. It’s obviously up to you, but I think a lot of us would love to watch your reactions to the real testimonies.

You do realize that Lyle is recorded saying that they need to kill the therapist, right? That’s some cold blooded stuff and that doesn’t sound like someone who is just acting in self defense. AND it’s also true Erik’s attorney used a very similar defense with another high profile case of hers… I don’t understand how people can be so sure they are telling the truth. They did some pretty diabolical stuff before and after they were caught.

i did not like how right after that powerful testimony from Lyle, they have a shot of him talking to Norma and saying if people bought it. It undermines what they went through. But unfortunately, it is true that from Norma's tapes, Lyle did actually say if people bought his tears and his testimony. This is literally why he was not allowed to speak in their second trial because bringing in those tapes would weaken the defense so much. But I think Lyle saying that is really a trauma response because he is emotional about what happened but is toying with also trying to look tough about it all

@@delsmontgomery I listened to the tapes with Norma and the netflix show played it up a lot. The way he said things in the actual tapes was so different and also had a different tone. He still said some dumb stuff on the real life tapes but idk how to explain it but it wasn’t like how the show portrayed it

​@@delsmontgomery in the documental he said why he didn't testify in the second trial, lyle said it had nothing to do with the norma thing(idk if it's true but he said it) also the tapes werent that incriminating, he did not tell norma all he said were lies, he just told her he was going to be honest but try to speak with sentiment in a way the judge and the jury would feel empathetic to him

Wow… this was a very intense episode. I love Poltergeist… I had no clue she was murdered like that. The fact that he got sentenced for only 6 years?! Then served 2 and a half, now he’s free to live the rest of his life? That’s absolutely heartbreaking for her family… 😢💔

A really great thing that the Dunne family did was that they found out where the guy was going to be working when he got out of jail and when started at the restaurant, they would stand outside with signs saying "the hands making your food are the hands that strangled Dominique Dunne to death." After that restaurant fired him, the family went out of their way to track him to make sure wherever he went, people always knew who he was and what he did. He ended up changing his name and moving really far away but I don't know how long they continued to keep track of his whereabouts

I was shocked that they were talking about Dominique Dunne. There were 3 kids in the movie and Dominique played the oldest daughter. I was too young to remember the incident but read about it when I got older. It was so sad. There were so many tragedies involved with Poltergeist. People said the set was cursed. There’s a documentary on Tubi I believe, that talks about different movies that were cursed. They talked about Poltergeist, The Wizard of Oz, The Crow, just to name a few. You should definitely check it out.

If you want to react to real trial footage, there's a KZbin channel called Menenedeztrials that has almost everything from Court TV and more. They have playlists of both Erik and Lyles' testimonies and cross-examinations. I find it easier to navigate that page than the actual Court TV website. AND it's just raw footage, no KZbinr commentary, of course there are a couple great channels for that sort of content too.

7:24 if you don’t want to know anything about the case yet don’t read this but i’m pretty sure the police never actually recovered the shotguns but idk how true that is, I really hope you guys do a video or livestream going over the case after you’ve finished this series because there’s a lot to the case and again if you don’t wanna know much don’t read this but about jose menendez and the menudo band too, besides doing your own research online the youtube channel “menendez case” has lots of court room footage and other information in video format

I know people are upset with several scenes in the series or the whole thing (me too) but when I saw the actual testimonies, I realised that the liberties Ryan took were to present the different theories presented by the prosecution and the defence, I mean NEVER expect it to be totally reliable to the actual facts. So, as a series, i liked it overall but it's based on real events, i wouldn't expect them to completely respect the real story.

The outcome of his daughter's murderer's trial really skewed how he viewed defense strategies. If someone brutally murdered your daughter and that person was only in jail for 3 years, I can imagine that would really mess with your sense of justice and make you cynical about perpetrators being portrayed as victims (even when it was true)

We all have an opinion. I say the abuse is a maybe for me but I also agree with behavioral and body language forensics experts that say they could have left. They were not in immediate danger. They watched their body language and said they believe they killed their parents for revenge and the money
