Love these trips! And that time machine footage of climbing those stairs! I don't think I would have!! LOL

Right?! I probably should not have myself!!!😂🤷🏻♂️ But you gotta do it for the “tube”…. Haha. I honestly couldn’t pass it up when I found to door unlocked. Glad I did now as that is probably the only footage of it that exists at all.

David, I was holding my breath the whole time you were walking through the upstairs ! when I got to the top of the stairs, I would have turned right around and went back down the stairs !!!!!! I live in Alabama and I never heard of this town. Thank you sharing the video !

Thank you for tour time and thoughts. I will be honest, there were parts that were truly scary and I wouldn’t test them but the center seemed (mostly) solid. Mostly…

That place was rickety! My father's family moved from Bridgeport to Chattanooga when he was young, probably in the late 1920's. He was born in 1925. Thanks, David!

I had forgotten that about your family. I remember you talking about it in the past now.

That’s cool David! Were you there on a Sunday? Other than a few cars going by, very quiet. I like the town seal on the wall we can see at 8:55. I wonder who stayed at the hotel that was torn down.
@davidsaylors4 ай бұрын
I was there mid day during the week. I figure it would probably be a little more lively in the evenings but probably not by much. I also would have liked to see that hotel in it’s prime.

The floor in that building at 2:19 looked EXTREMELY DANGEROUS"

Yeah, I look back and think about how dumb going in there was and now I am pretty sure I would DO IT AGAIN!!! 🤣🤷🏻♂️📸 Gotta do it for the photo!!!

David The flagstone was interesting I have never seen it used before for sidewalks I have seen ship ballast used in New England ( Boston)for streets and sidewalks in the historic parts of towns as well as wooden 😊sidewalks in the west ( old town Sacramento) Old Town Sacramento is interesting in that the Sacramento River flooded the town so they raised the streets by 20 feet thus the second floor of the buildings became the first floor and the first floor became the basement

Chattanooga did the same thing. They simply backfilled the downtown sector streets and raised the grade by about 20 feet as well. The ship ballast stone cobble streets are prevalent in Savannah GA as well. Makes sense too. Thank you!!!!

DeJaVu in Full Swing! There are multiple ways to fix up buildings. This is the first time I have ever seen someone use cardboard made to seem like the real feature. Great Idea! I just got back from Colorado and on my way back home I entered Eden, Texas and saw the most beautiful muriel on a building which gave it a lot of character. Cheers!

Welp, that old building finally came down. Wonder if they are saving the front for something in the future.
@davidsaylors4 ай бұрын
Probably. It will be worked into some new construction to make it look old on the street side. I see it alot in chattanooga.
