This len has absolute everything that mordern photographer will bash it on and trash it away. But for Flim photographer in that era, it is first to second attempt in which that Nikon want to produce autofocus zoom lenses. It may come with flaw of glass quality. But in Flim era, this technological pioneering is absolute blast for consumer photographer. It is light weight. It has zoom and can get job done in the morning to dusk with 400 to 800 iso film. There was no file to inspect detailed data. The one who can inspect is the professional who print a mega large size from 35 mm film. It is cheap and robust for me to take it any where. It is a kind of home to use this abomination.

Am I missing something? This is measuring runout/circularity, not distance from centerline.
@threegreencharms3 күн бұрын
It's the distance from centerline. If it was runout, there would be a little arrow symbol before ".225"
@madisonrollings18452 күн бұрын
@@threegreencharms That is what is on the drawing, but not what the dial indicator is doing in the machine. All the dial indicator is showing is that the section of part under the indicator is inline with the machine spindle. That's great and all, but it doesn't show that the feature is the correct distance from the part centerline.

My favorite photography subject - Waterfalls. At 3:20 the background separation in your video was phenomenal. Was you using the Zf to film that part?
@PhilThach5 күн бұрын
I like the photo of the one brightly colored tree/bush in the middle of a dull forest. I think I like the faster shutter better. The footage from the Zf & 50 1.8 is beautiful. Especially the first shot when you realized you were out of time. I knew you had switched cameras before you told us!

David I agree that is the Clint Eastwood look with the cape and the barren trees remind me of the photographs from the movie Three Days Of The Condor Faye Dunaway had in her apartment in the movie

Yeah, if it were just a little more convenient, I would probably film with it more. It is tough when your working by yourself to film with a camera like that. The result is way better though, there is no denying that!📸👍

Hi David. That red bush did a lot of popping and stood out beautifully. I second the slower shutter speed pic. I’m also on the fence when photographing water when it comes to shutter speeds. It really depends on the situation. All of your pics were great and you’ve motivated me to get out and use that 105mm f2.5 pre-ai I snagged just before Christmas.

It is always nice to get out in nature. I think I prefer around 2 or 3 seconds shutterspeed for running water, just to not blur it out completely. Best to you David!

Because you and your equipment are that good, if something can be better than why not live up to its full potential. Your mentality here is what makes a great machinist and what ultimately sets you apart from all the “good enough” guys.

One should always drive to perfection. Its just that tolerance allows little throw case you fail in it and this is stipulated on the plans. How ever other end of this is engineer that draw every single dimension to have only +/-.001 on every single surface, including exterior that will be sand blasted and powder coated, cause mr engineer didnt realize with his academic education that requiring that made the part cost 4000$ more, for each of the parts... parts that were in hundreds and this was company inside machine shop with no CNC yet... This was not the only wtf thing the engineers did.. This included true horror like 150mm deep m5 tread and in general if there was room the treads were always full deep, even if there was room to remove material from another side. Only after tooling guy got the order for 150mm m5 tap, witch would been single use item if it didnt snap on the first go and required custom order, the engineering team got talking to and demonstration on the treads only stripping if less than 1.5 diameter deep..
