it's confirmed season 3 will be tackling book 4 (Romancing Mr. Bridgerton), tho Colin's line of "I won't romance Penelope" (or something similar) as well as the revelation of Whistledown=Penelope (Colin the first to know) was actually in book 4 from what I've been seeing in Reddit tho, portraying book 3 (Benedict)) will be quite problematic if Benedict's behavior is retained as it is and his paramour will be a POC

When I first watched the show I was astonished at how colorful and diverse the costumes were. I challenged myself to find a duplicate dress in the audience but I couldn’t. The best parts were the 💎 omg I couldn’t blink looking at those shiny gems. They’ve done such a good jobs on styling and scening I vouch for it 💯

Wasn't actually that unusual on plus size women in the era. Also I remember reading somewhere that they were doing something about Lady Featherington having control freak tendencies which is why you see Polly Walker having a nipped in waist in her dresses rather than an empire waist. It's a little sign of how controlling she is even though it's not historically accurate, the characterisation moment was more important to them there. So it's a combo of reality and artistic licence.

Actually, the main function of the corsets during the regency era was to support the bust for the empire waist. They were effectively a bra that happened to enclose around the waist. I would recommend watching Abby Cox she did a whole video about stays to corsetry.

I would be thrilled if someone explains to me why they are put into corsets if the dresses are all shapeless anyway. A corset is meant to highlight your waist, but the whole point of it is discarded in the shapes of the dresses. I'm confused.

so it's a lil bit that plus size girls did wear longer stays that had some kind of figure control in the regency era, and a lot more that the whole corset scene is not about historical accuracy at all (we all know this) it's about showing Pen's mum as a total control freak which is also why Lady Featherington's dresses are totally inaccurate and have nipped in waists that show off her figure rather than being empire cut (that was something that came from an interview with the costume designer).
