Having sailed on the bay side of the Golden Gate, I can attest it is among the worst boating conditions in the world. It is fun to watch giant cargo ships struggle through the Golden Gate. The bridge is a thing of beauty and makes going across a pleasure instead of the ferry it replaced

There are 2 kinds of bridges: 1. Practical bridges which make Practical and economic sense 2. Political bridges which are justified for their their political impact and not for Practical or economic reasons. Political bridges often replace ferry or other ways of getting from point to point.

Successfully captures that retro middle school geography lesson vible in a way contemporary Gen Z & Gen Alpha KZbinrs struggle to achieve. Would not be surprised to see this hit 500,000 page views by mid-century.

As an excellent documentary as always but one correction, the Sydney Harbour Bridge (48.8 m width) lost the widest bridge title in 2012 to the newly built Port Mann Bridge (65 m width) which in turn lost the title in 2013 to the rebuilt San Francisco-Oaklland Bridge (78.5). For 80 years it did have the title. It is by the best looking of the 3.
