great that these old traditions are being documented before the last ones that remember them are gone. i was in a pub in Enniscorthy a few years ago i was sitting at the bar chatting to someone when all the lights in the pub went off...the pub went dead silent i said to the guy i was talking to(who i didn't know)has somebody forgot to pay the bill he said no one of the pubs patrons died and his hearse was coming past and all the pubs in the town did the same thing...for me coming from england i found it amazing and a wonderful gesture.

That is a great story and like you, it has also taught a me a lesson, we should respect others as best we can
