I caught bits and pieces of this Joe., It made me smile to hear how much knowledge and appreciation that you have for this label. One that I did not concentrate too much on when I was a kid. But I surely do now. Well done. I hope this gets viewed by many more people. It definitely deserves it~ Rob/Boston

I came into a stack of the France reissues that had belonged to the owner of School Kids records in Raleigh. Love those pressings.

Great video, Joe! This was a well done overview of Blue Note labels over the years. I learned a lot. Thanks. Now I need to double check some of my records to see if I've mis-categorized a few that I wasn't sure of. Speaking of the Japanese King Record releases, I recently got a copy of Bennie Green Soul Stirrin' Blue Note 1599 and what a quality pressing this is. I hope all is well! Take care.

The Vinylverse thanks Bill, I appreciate it. Some records can be tricky because they may have labels that date them earlier than they really are. Big thing to look for when it comes to pressings of Blue Notes is if it has an ear or not. After Blue note was sold to Liberty, they would use leftover labels first before moving to the liberty labels but those pressings wouldn’t have an ear because they weren’t pressed at the Plastylite plant. Japanese King records are always solid, many are mono, and are usually at great prices! Thanks for watching!

Rudy Van Gelder’s studio is still going strong. Ghost Trees from Charlotte recorded there last year.

I have about 350 Blue Notes, in my mind the Japanese King pressing sounds the best, even better than the original ones, specially on modern systems. The DMM and Scorpio are the worst to me.

DMM Pressings I have had good luck with. I have a Jackie McLean Scorpio press. Toilet. I need to upgrade. There has been a lot of complaints about the 75th Anniversary presses but those are a significant upgrade to those Scorpio cuts IMO.

Localbandography I honestly don’t think I’ve really come across a DMM pressing even though they are so common! And yeah the 75th anniversary fell short but the 80th and tone poet series really took it to the next level!

Analog Archive Folks like Teddy and myself have had good luck with the 75th Anniversary pressings but it is a hard gamble when United is involved.

Localbandography definitely! I’ve seen that some are solid while others are lacking a bit

Analog Archive Quality Control has never existed at United. I gave Egon hell over using them for Now Again pressings. He listened.
