Blücher wouldnt have won without Wellington and the Brits did the Majority of the fighting. But the Situation Looked very dire until the prussians arrived.

As far as I know, the French managed to take La Haye Saint. The British Troops there ran out of ammo and had to withdraw and it was occupied by French troops.

+Filibert I've played both, in terms of scale this game is unparalelled. It may have graphics that look like arse, but it more than makes up with it when you see the MASSIVE army vs army battles using the chain of command system. down to the individual regiment.

NTW is a childs arcade game with no attempt to replicate Napoleonic units, tactics or formations. Haven't played AGEOD though that seems to be more a map strategy game. SoW is a tactical RTS only but does the job very well. Its AI is fantastic and it has a proper command structure. You can also play from the saddle (first person view) and use couriers to send orders and reports, no other RTS can do this. It makes for a very immersive game. Its very moddable and has a couple of strong MP groups who play frequently.

Diplex if you lower the sprite ratio you get more "men" on the field. Sprite ratio is 1 sprite = "x" men, where "x" is the number you've got it set to in the graphics option. Less is more in this case.

I would be curious to see what the "sandbox campaign" is all about. Is it basically a randomly generated battle scenario that persists over multiple engagements? That could be interesting to see.

EnDSchultz1 They showed it on a few live streams. It's basically a campaign map, featuring several cities, roads, etc. You move your armies along it and when two armies meet a battle is generated!

Lucas Lucas It's fun, a few things annoy me(like a max score) I got to high score in a battle so I won, but I still had like 100 000 french to kill, so instead of killing of Napleon he "got away" because of an artifical score, Making it impossible for that one decicive battle.

Yes, you can even do coop with a leader commanding other players via the courier system.

March Hare Yes, and you can do coop or against other people, everyone having a different command. You can change realism levels so that on one extreme you can fly all over the map, and on the other extreme you can lock the camera in the saddle to make it super challenging.

Why are there so little sprites? Is that a setting you have on? I recall other Scourge of Wars having the exact amount.

DukeOfWellington None had the exact amount. You could increase or decrease the ratio of soldiers to sprites, but in no game was it 1:1.

Looks like the sprite ratio is set pretty high at about 8:1 or 10:1. The battles look better at 4:1 or 6:1. The game cannot handle sprite ratios below about 4:1 since the maximum unit size is 200 sprites which at 4:1 gives you a respectable 800 man battalion. There are 1:1 versions where the units then represent companies but the game isn't really designed for this.

infantry units in this game CANNOT fight in column formations! there is an options "column by divisions", and they form a similarity of it, but when a unit is closing to an enemy it monentary makes the line formation! this is absolutely not historical!

The battle simulation is far more robust than total war in terms of, the scale, command and control and realism. The only big advantage total war has over this is graphics.
