That's a good lawnmower and engine, I have 2 similar Craftsman's like yours, runs great even after 35 years. Thanks for a great "How to do it" video.

VintageTexas59 Thanks Tex!! Yeah when they started making them outta plastic they really went down hill !!☺

I used to have this exact same model by it had the opposed twin on it. Best damn mower I've ever rode, cut great. Also the music those opposed twins make is just amazing. Both of the exhausts were rusted out and it chugged like a Harley at low idle.

Yeah looks like a Flo-Jet variation. Way to go on the rebuild, it will run for another 30 years! Thumbs up!

Great video guys. FYI Sea Foam makes an awesome carb cleaner. Use the additive for soaking, and the spray version for cleaning out all of the circuit passages. It is less flamable than gas, doesn't evaporate so fast, and it is a very good de-carboning agent.
@805ROADKING9 жыл бұрын
Scott M Thanks Scott!! I've never tried it for that, we'll have to it a whirl !!☺

My rider would dump gas in the engine, filled the crankcase with gas. Has the same carb. Installed a fuel shutoff valve and run it dry every time. New needle wouldn't do anything. I did use some grinding compound on a Q tip to polish the brass seat. That seemed to help.

Do you do any type of winterizing on equipment? Reason i ask is i have problems with my cement mixer, power washer, and my tiller but never my push power mower. If yo do winterized what all you do ?
@805ROADKING9 жыл бұрын
Larry Carroll I don't winterize per se, but Something I won't use for a while like the things you mention and snow blowers and generators I'll run them outta gas before storing them!! The lawn mower don't sit long enough to get messed up, even over winter!!☺

Hey Roadking I got an 06 craftsman with a 24HP briggs, when I put the idle up on high or I let it run and get good and hot, she begins to backfire all the time. I play with the choke and it seems to straighten the backfiring out but you got to be playing with the choke all the dang time to keep up with it. Any thoughts?
@805ROADKING9 жыл бұрын
iTyTy302 I never worked on any of the larger Briggs like that, but sounds like you could use a carb rebuild too!!☺

Thats my exact back 40 tractor. I use it with no hood and beat the piss out of it. Cant kill it. My problem was the float was leaking and getting saturated. Gass runnin right out the carb n fillin up the crankcase. Where'd you get the kit and how much?
