Great video and great explanation I like how you kept it simple and to the point yet clear to understand. I've been hesitant to replace these cams because I have a friend who ran a shop and he did a few using OEM and he would still have the problem come back

It all depends on the condition of the engine . A lot are worn out , but many run great for a long time after

Well explained and to the point No wasted time with crap talk 😊

Mine wasn't broke off, but easy to move ,like wore out ,fixing to break. Im about to order a new one wondering about OEM or Amazon?
@wtbm1238 ай бұрын
I go OEM , More money , And some of the cheaper aftermarket ones may be ok , but i have had a fey cheap ones spin the lobes on the shaft after first start.

@wtbm123 I purchased OEM! Thanks, dang, shipping is high and slow.

I have a Kawasaki FJ400D engine from a 2008 EZ-GO cart in my 1991 Club Car DS, always had trouble overcoming the compression stroke, the other day i had it out replacing motor mount bushings and dropped it off of the block it was on, when it hit i heard things bang, no problem.. as i reinstalled the belts it had no compression, had me worried, now it cranks right up and still runs strong. Ive read these dont have a compression release setup, but ive seen photos that they do, if it does mine must have been stuck open and the drop knocked it loose as the stops have heads on them, my thinking was one cought the counterweight and held it open.. Works better now anyways.

Good that it works now

Mine has all the symptoms of a bad compression release but I can clearly see the bump on the intake. Tried jumping it to rule out bad/weak battery and same thing. Did you ever do the extended video ?
@wtbm1232 ай бұрын
Make sure the valves are adjusted or it will do the same . If remove spark plug does it turn over . Make sure all grounds are good.
@MrHosehead2 ай бұрын
The valves are within spec and without the plug it does turn fine. It wasn’t hydro-locked and oil was at the proper level. I’ve seen some other videos saying that the compression release may be worn and while I see the bump, it may not be fully functional, causing the issue

Interesting design that could really tear up an engine . Any idea how many hours was on that engine.
@wtbm123 Жыл бұрын
Good question! No hour meter . It would be nice to know , and know the hours if it ever breaks again

I have that same engine on my mower. Hope it lasts. But if it fails I can fix it now. Thanks

The full length video will be out sometime , I wanted to show what the rocker did when the compression release breaks .

So you replaced the de compression mechanism and it's happy again :-D Yes it could of been curtains for the engine (not quite the way you explained it) lol. Your golden fingers have healed another patient, and a bit of persuasion by Mr mallet :-D You have become a posh film maker, fancy split screen, i thought i was watching the start of Dallas again :)
@wtbm123 Жыл бұрын
Yea getting fancy . lol . I wanted people to see what it is supposed to look like and what it looks like broke. Hardest part was waiting on an OEM cam .

My tractors valves won't move in or out ,what could be the problem?
@wtbm12328 күн бұрын
If the valve its self is stuck may remove them and clean the guide and valve stem . Old fuel can do it to exhaust valve . Or could be a bent valve , but either way i would remove the valves and inspect.

The other 2 issues with the engine is not turning over is a bad battery and hydro lock which is caused by to much oil in the crank case and gas has made it's way to the crank case
@wtbm123 Жыл бұрын
Correct , I believe i talk about that when diagnosing it in the full length video that will come out later .Not even edited fully yet . Thanks for stopping in .

@wtbm1238 ай бұрын
Hard to say with out hearing , Do you have a way to put air pressure in the cylinder , like a leak down test to see if head gasket is leaking .

@PainterD549 ай бұрын
And then there are videos that show how to start our engine after you break the compression release lever of the cam? WHY? All that does (other than start your engine) is throw the damage pieces all over inside the engine, possibly causing more damage! Not too smart.
@wtbm1238 ай бұрын
If i suspect compression release issues , i look at the valve movement first . You are correct if a broken part has not yet dammaged anything , Starting it could be the toime a broken part grenades the rest.
