We ran Cox, Dover Power, Gecker and Capps flathead engines from 05-08. Won with all but there was something about the Dover Power... I'd say the Capps came second behind the Dover. I wish flatheads were popular still; it's one reason why I'm not interested in getting back to karting again. I say bring those engines back and make karting great again! lol

Flatheads are definitely making a comeback now. If they would just bring back the animals too, I'd be happy.

Put a 4 hp head and a 3 hp flywheel on it, it''l kick it up a few more horses.
@danielblaylock55664 жыл бұрын
Ive done the 3hp flywheel with the adaptor for the coil......... Billit aluminum flywheel and the or dragster coil was a whole lot better but yes stock parts mixed together can work very good....... My nephew won a championship with that enginge and was tore down but they couldnt do anything about it because it wasn't stated in the rules.......
@danielblaylock55664 жыл бұрын
I got one.......... Fuck paying thousands from a lowball engine builder that over charges........ I have 500 dollars of actual parts that I bought but machined and assembled it ourselves........ My brother knife cut the crank and balanced it at the turbo shop he was running.... Shaved the head .125. Bored it .030 over..... Has a dynocam cam and springs.... We ported the intake and exhaust ports. Put billit aluminum flywheel with a briggs or dragster coil on it and an arc billit rod........ Stock carb converted to alcohol...... And it runs 9500 rpm all night long on a dirt track all for 500 bucks and not too much personal time also has a 4500rpm takeoff adjustable spring clutch.........it was half the cost of the engine........so 750$........I bet this engine in this video is 1500bucks......

And we'll worth it. Yours may have been fast but far from legal. That's the talent building a stock legal engine that will outrun yours. Talking big words won't make it faster. Also 750 for a cluth is a rip off.

Before anyone could afford the Japanese engines, these were all there was for decades. If you really dgaf just use a motorcycle engine…but see how that ruins the point of it all? Flatheads have a terrible time flowing air, so it makes it more competitive.

its torque that they are using. flatheads have torque lower in the rev range 2200 to 2800.... OHV engines have torque higher in the rev range.... get more HP from the same CC's on OHV engines.
