Paint job definitely made it more sellable. Even though you likely would still have to have removed the engine, first check the torque on the block bolts. You may have just needed to torque them to stop the leak. I have.

Yeah, boy! It’s been so flippin’ hot this summer I can’t hardly see straight no more! I’m thinking when the pump shaft got in the way and bent the cover up that’s probably when the engine was locked up too. Since the earl pump is geared to the crankshaft that would hold back the crank from turning. You got it going bro, she’s a good runner now!

Henry, The threaded oil filter nipple that you were mentioning is Briggs & Stratton part number 690954 which is a very common Briggs & Stratton part available from any number of different sellers. And yeah, I would much rather have an oil filter than that silly cover. Hope that helps you out.

@@MowersNBlowers I was watching another KZbin video a day or so ago on a different channel and had seen one of those filter plates and didn’t really think very much about that concept. It’s just another way for Briggs&Stratton to be cheap. With them suggesting that topping off the engine oil rather than actually changing the oil like on the Toro Recyclers should say volumes.

You need hydrolic oil for your jack, or the seals are going, try popping the plug out of the barrel, and refill the jack, then burp it.
