You failed to go through the linkages and that’s what I’m having trouble with especially with a spring on the bottom of the tank

I have this same engine on a chipper/shredder that is doing the exact same thing. Now I feel more confident about my diagnosis. Thank you for doing this video.

some ome has just brought a rotavator with the same engine where it wil fire if you spray fuel in the carb but cuts out straight away ive also noticed a spring come off between the fuel tank and recoil cover i think for the governor but it dont seem to fit correct

Any ideas on why my 5 hp B&S engine will not start after cleaning an new carb kit lnstallation . I have to use starter fluid to get it to run. Once it starts it runs great.Pulled the carb for a second look and cleaning. New fuel pickup tube installed with no trash ariund filter.

What about the main jet, did you take it out and clean it?

This is helpful, I stumbled on it in replacing my carb on a similar model. do you have a picture or a diagram on how to put the rods back on (throttle)- I was not paying attention when I disassembled, and have it all ready to go but... cant remember what rods go and attach where and in what order!
@Buckwsr3 жыл бұрын
Well, this repair was a long time ago, and I no longer have the machine. So I can't help you there. You probably thought of this afterwards...."I should have taken a photo before disassembly."
@mphowington3 жыл бұрын
Well why yes I did! I was helping my wife with dialysis and focussed on the bolts so I wasnt paying attention. Any ideas where to find diagrams or could I send you a picture and you help me? This should be a no brainer (its mostly the throttle linkage in struggling with)
@Buckwsr3 жыл бұрын
@@mphowington I might be able to help. Give me the make and model of the machine. Also, the Briggs and Stratton engine information that is probably stamped into the engine cover somewhere.

Great! The machine is 917292403, craftsman tiller. Engine is 134202-1118-e1- i ended up with a new carb and mostly cant figure out how to connect the throttle linkage (link to crank bell and confused myself with the governor and speed control rods) basically what connects the throttle lever - id be happy to email you pictures- my diagram doesnt really show what connects where.

I have a tiller that the in tank fuel bowl (short tube) isn't filling. Filled it and reinstalled and it ran for a few. Supposing the worn diaphragm is the cause?
@Buckwsr3 жыл бұрын
sounds like the pump built-in to the carburetor isn't sucking gas up from the tank. A rebuild kit should resolve that.
@majestical53313 жыл бұрын
@@Buckwsr Thanks! Spent 2 hours trying to start it doing everything. Finally saw that bowl at carb disassembly and had a eureka moment..

Where would I get a butterfly Rod connection the plastic at the end of my just busted
@Buckwsr3 жыл бұрын
Use your engine model number to go online and look up parts for that particular engine and carburetor. Another option would be to get an inexpensive (made in china) aftermarket replacement carburetor.

I have the same exact machine. It starts but I can not move the choke past half way before it stalls out. I just replaced all the gaskets and the belt. Do you think it needs a rebuild or do you think the diaphragm could be bad or is there a blockage somewhere. I have tried to adjust the needle and the throttle screw with no luck. I would appreciate any help you could give. Thanks
@Buckwsr4 жыл бұрын
If it only runs with the engine choked, then you're not getting enough fuel through the carburetor. A rebuild and thorough cleaning would probably do the trick, in my opinion.

@Buckwsr6 жыл бұрын
Honestly I can't remember. I did this video like 2 years ago. I guess if I did not show that in the video, maybe I didn't remove and clean the jet.... most rebuild kits include the parts to do so....
