I wish I could go back for a week. I wouldn’t want to stay, but damn to be young and feel so much, and the struggle to understand the self, I just want to dive in and bawl my eyes out one last time. I am so thankful I had the music of Bright Eyes to carry me through those troubled times.

I get he's famous and getting all the money he wants now, but how did he get this band back in the day? He had to have been barely breaking even.

Hi! Casey Scott here, I was playing bass for this show. The live band (12 of us, I think?) were mostly gathered from the group that recorded the album Lifted, en masse, Dec/ Jan before this show. There were so many talented musicians in Omaha, myself and Heather McIntosh (cello) were living in Athens GA at the time. Everyone who met Conor would gladly join him with no real concern for money- The two openers (and members of Bright Eyes during the set- M Ward and Alex McManus were a bit older and had more experience of tour life, but for most of us it was the biggest shows we had ever done, and I think even for Conor the first time we had used a tour bus. it was just obvious that he was on fire creatively and full of love. It was an incredible time, and a wonderful group of humans.
