Bright eyes- Every day and every night - EP - full album
Every Day and Every Night is the third record and the first EP by Nebraskan indie rock band Bright Eyes. It became the 30th release by Saddle Creek Records on November 1, 1999.
Conor Oberst references this album art in another of his songs, "Waste of Paint", from the album Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground. In the first verse he sings (that a friend, most likely Zack Nipper) "Once cut one of my nightmares out of paper; oh I thought it was beautiful, I put it on a record cover...".
"A Line Allows Progress, a Circle Does Not" -- 3:25
"A Perfect Sonnet" -- 3:41
"On My Way to Work" -- 4:10
"A New Arrangement" -- 5:13
"Neely O'Hara" -- 6:22

brings me to tears everytime. I actually stopped listening to Bright eyes for a couple years because I thought crying was unhealthy for a depressed individual, and all my friends told me that music "like this" was probably a main factor in my depression. So.. here I am a couple of years later and I know "music like this" isn't my problem, in fact this just kept me from killing myself Sorry for the story, but if you are listening to this and feeling like your the only one in the world. you're not

A literal masterpiece..... i grew up onor oberst obsessed and his music and poetry has indluenced my life heavily. Im 31 now and after taking maybe a 10 year break from this type of music, i am finally able to listen and have a massively more profound appreciation for it. I knew it was good when i was in 6th 7th 8 th 9th 10th grade, but now i know even deeper in a more visceral way... as i am a recovered heroin addict now for 8 years, and have been through immense trauma and have found happiness and peace in my marriage and life.. but i still ponder about the enigma that is life.. and bright eyes conor oberst and brand new are so meaningful in my life and i am truly enjoying my rediscovery of these invaluable tunes.

It was late in the Fall of 1999. Me and a few friends (one who eventually I married - Debra) made our way to the Khyber Pub in Philadelphia to see a new band - Bright Eyes. This EP (Every Day and Every Night) was the only recording out by the band at the time, and one that I had on heavy rotation over the previous month or so. The band was fronted by a young, thin, and seemingly fragile Connor Oberst. Right away you could sense that every emotion of his being was on full display in front of a microphone on stage. Even though at the time he was basically unknown, he had a captivating presence even at that early stage in his career. The Khyber (for those not in the Philly area) was a bar with a small stage and standing area just off from the bar. It was a pretty small venue (I would guess there were 50 people there to see the band that night) but made for a perfect setting to capture his intimate songs in a live setting. While I still like his music today, his earlier albums and songs are the pinnacle of his work imho. This EP in particular, is one that I come back to time and time again as it captured his spirit in a raw, focused and beautiful form, with just a 25 minute session. Powerful stuff.

Well-spoken. This is a perfect EP and possibly his most cohesive release. And he pulled it off at a mere 19 years of age, which warrants a Wow.

Yes I agree this album is profound. You are one lucky couple to have seen this live. I'd give anything to go see him preform... I hear he has a residency now but the tickets are over 400$.... I see there are shows next year might buy a ticket now for then.

Conor's and Mike's music always brings me peace, I always go through Bright Eyes phase, I listen to him for three months and nothing else, then seasons change and I listen to everything else, then seasons change again and I'm back to Bright Eyes for another three months.

They never got as much attention as they deserve but maybe that's the way it goes to literally do something so pure. Full disclaimer: I say that knowing he said the songs weren't always literal but you know from identifying with what he says that they were literal emotions he expresses.

this sounds like going to class, hungover, on 3 hours sleep. i was just going through the motions and not really thinking when i was obsessed with this album. there's something so peaceful about it, and i love it. although those times weren't exactly the best, i have a strange urge to listen to this as a motivator. thanks bright eyes. you guys impact people more than you think.

I love all Bright Eyes. Conor is a lyrical guru and has been my favorite artist to get down on in the wintertime for years. Saddle Creek has a really great cast of characters but Conor has always been the best at drawing me in. His voice is so desperate but certain about its reasons for being so. How do you describe one of the most interesting and under rated artists ever?

Thanks for sharing the EP, I also am a truly fan of bright eyes since long time and i found this randomly in the middle of the night through other bright eyes videos. Its very nice to remember that this album exists, i missed hearing it. Something awesome about bright eyes its that you always discover some genious and beautiful songs everytime you hear it, isnt it? (:

Someone please... Trapped in the darkness of your own mind. Consciousness flips in and out. And words slur and disconnect from your mouth. How long has it been since. You got out off the house? Just try to make it on your side. Black out, gone without any doubts. Wake up on your own vomit. Crawl from the bathroom to your bed. But before that look yourself in the mirror. And the words form, "what the fuck am I doing here?" But you do it again. Your mood changes. Constantly. As you lay in bed, thinking off your own death. For weeks. And crawl out to make the final decision. You'll never be who you were. You'll only get farther, and farther.

The only help I can give us that you are not alone and a quote I heard recently, I normally have inspirational quotes, but this one helped me a lot "If all you can do is crawl; start crawling" hope you get the same motivation I got from that, of not reply I'll give you more contact details if you'd like. They're playing their instruments with passion and creativity. Recorded music doesn't have to be about playing every note perfectly, it can just be about capturing a moment of shambolic, reckless beauty. That approach doesn't mean the musicians can't play.
