Sherz and Linz, just had our week on the Broads, having watched all your you tube vids it made our holiday one of the most memorable ever, your hunts and tips were invaluable and showing us places we would probably not have visited. Our favourites were How Hill and Ranworth Slaithe with a trip up the church tower. Thanks ever so much for taking the time to make these clips of your holidays. Loved the malsters too. Thanks again we will certainly be making a visit again in the next year or so, please keep posting so we can nick your ideas for our next trip. Andrew Pat and Sarah

Cheers John! Yeah we seem to have settled on this one as our boat of choice, we've hired it a couple of times, as well as her sister ship Western Horizon. A spacious well fitted out boat that doesn't cost the earth to hire.

Well done DJ for doing the tour and telling those, not so familiar with Broads hire boats, what they can expect from this type of boat. You're totally right about most yards falling short when it comes to providing ample pics, and info/details about equipment on their boats.

What a lovely couple, plus Sid of course, I love him. Well done both. I've sold my boat, and I miss it terribly. I'll wait for the next trip. Baz.

Thanks for a great review, well worth subscribing to. We're booked on this boat in September and you've put some of our worries to rest as I'm 6'2", our last boat was a bit of a struggle.
@djsherz6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, we enjoyed this boat, warm, comfy and spacious. Regarding the beds, I think any bed on a boat can be a bit of a struggle if you're sharing, as what they describe as a double, any normal person would consider a generously-sized single. Having two beds solved that problem this year, and I got a great night's kip every time. Enjoy your upcoming holiday - we did it towards the end of september in 2015, and we were blessed with warm weather, cheap hire rates, and fewer holidaymakers crowding the moorings...

djsherz We last went in 2016, Chelsea Bridge from Acle. It's very similar, with a cover that slides back properly, so the driver isn't always inside. I spent 10 years as a pro function DJ. I had a residency at The Castle Hotel in Windsor. Wedding banned list-- I will survive. It's raining men Hi Ho bloody Silver Lining. 😂

Just had a look back through my emails and found the booking confirmation - it was Bright Horizon 3. I think which boat you get depends on your hire start day.

Yeah, when you've had a cracking week, you definitely do not want to go back home. So, I agree, always horrible getting off a boat when you've had a good week.

Run the engine at night? We don't. There's plenty of onboard battery power to keep things going 'til the morning.

your sports camera on the front window is it the sj4000 if so what sd card do you use in it and do those cameras have microphones as ive got 4 of these cameras and Ive not figured how to use them properly yet and ive only go a few weeks to learn them any tips please and whats the black cable you've got plugged in and taped down is it to keep the battery charged so they dont go flat while filming if so whats it called and what length when I look up on ebay whats the cable im looking for in other words regarding the sd cards my cameras say the maximum they take is 32gb is that correct or can they take slightly bigger bearing in mind my cameras are sj4000 which 2 of them are wifi and 2 aren't, I will be very grateful for your help and advice
@djsherz6 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, yes I think it's an SJ4000, it's certainly an SJCAM cheapie of some sort! Yes, it does have a microphone, which used to work fine, but this year it seems to have developed some kind of weird buzzing bleeping noise. Not that it bothered me, I wasn't using it to capture audio. You were correct about the cable - I use a car adaptor to provide USB power, into which I plug in a USB extension cable, and on the end of that goes the camera's USB cable into the camera itself. I think the extension was around 2-3m, but obviously what you need depends on your boat and where the lighter socket is! Talking about SD cards, I usually play it safe and get a known brand like Sandisk, and not off eBay, there's so many fake cards out there! Interesting that you mention the max size is 32GB. I was using a 64GB card out there this year, but it broke down on me halfway during the week and I lost a morning's worth of footage. Makes me wonder if it wasn't the card that was faulty, but the camera threw a fit once I'd written over 32GB of data? I'd stick with 32GB to be on the safe side, it's no bother just transferring the day's footage onto the laptop at the end of the day's cruising. Also, check and see which firmware your cameras are running - there's loads of different versions and some work better than others apparently. It's easy enough to flash it to the version you want - just google "SJCAM firmware" and have a look, there's plenty of support out there.

thx for the info I take it the usb extension cable as I male usb at one end and a female one at the other end in order to join it to the cameras cable, did you get it off ebay?

I did yeah, this is the kind of thing you need mate: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5m-Long-USB-2-0-EXTENSION-Cable-Lead-A-Male-To-A-Female-SHIELDED/372139475053?epid=1271330349&hash=item56a53dc06d:g:MKQAAOSwFO5aFXf9

Hey dude. We're off to "your boat" on Friday. I'd just like to ask you a quick question about the current available at the power outlets. I'm taking a couple of RC boats with me. I can either use 240v or 12v, but I'd need to draw 2-3 amps. Which would you say is the better option? Thanks.
@djsherz6 жыл бұрын
When you say you'll be drawing 2-3 Amps, is that a measure of the charger's output current, or what it draws at the mains input? If you're pulling 3 Amps at the 240V side of your charger, that's a fair bit of power, over 600W. Seems rather unlikely for a battery charger! More likely that your 2-3A rating is related to the low voltage output of your charger, for example 3A at 12V would be 36 Watts. If it's the later, you should have no problem running off the 240V socket for the boat telly, a little LCD set like that probably only uses about 40W or so itself. If your RC boat batteries are under 12V themselves, it's probably better to use the 12V system on Bright Horizon to charge them - converting 12 Volts all the way up to 240V, then back down to something close to 12V again isn't a very efficient way of doing things after all!
@barrysrcdump35576 жыл бұрын
djsherz Hey, thanks for the reply. Not using the charger power supply does make sense. I'll be charging 2s and 3s lipo batteries 7.4v and 11.1v. They're quite big at 5200mah, so I usually charge 2s at 2A and 3s at 3A minimum, otherwise they take an eternity. At home they'll be on a 5A max balance charge, with the 3s taking about 45mins. m.gearbest.com/multi-rotor-parts/pp_176503.html?wid=1433363¤cy=GBP&vip=4437785&gclid=CjwKCAjwt7PcBRBbEiwAfwfVGCii-pPFNrzbYbCb4A93Te2fg-wKn3v_8xR9uhcKWui5Vesn2h7jDxoCNn8QAvD_BwE
@djsherz6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, looking at the specs for that charger, there's no reason whatsoever to run it via the mains, when the charger itself runs on 11-18v - you just need a cigarette lighter type plug for it, and you're good to go...My advice to you would be to not start the boat engine with it connected. Connect it to a running engine, or a stopped engine, but don't flick that starter before disconnecting the charger first, occasionally you can get weird spikes down that 12v line when running a starter motor that can fry sensitive electronics. Unusual but not unheard of, better safe than sorry eh!
@barrysrcdump35576 жыл бұрын
djsherz That's great stuff. Is the right hand socket 12v as well? I have a spare input into the charger with a shaver socket plug on the end.
@djsherz6 жыл бұрын
You mean the socket next to the mains socket? I never actually tested it, but I'm 99% certain that it is indeed a 12V point, those 5A round-pin sockets used to be the standard for 12V points on boats years ago. If you're planning to make use of it, bring a multimeter with you and test the pinout - on the boats we used to hire in the 80s/90s, I seem to recall they used to wire the earth pin as positive, and one of the other two as the negative!
