Dovewing’s eyes were confirmed as green. Also, remember how heterochromia is two eye colors? Well, they are changing dovewing’s eye colors and there are three eye colors that the Erin’s have mentioned, not two. And only one of the eye colors are blue.

I hope Moonpaw’s personality is a cocky,charismatic one. Because her face resembles a half moon,she’s hyped up by pretty much everyone in the nursery and her peers. Everyone believes she’s destined to be a medicine cat. And she’s fully on board with that,anything to look awsome! I want to see her end up a medicine cat apprentice and then,as time goes by she starts showing how much she SUCKS at the job.Because of the confidence boost in her youth,she believes she can get anywhere with her « importance » and we see that she’s acctually not putting much effort in training. But everyone’s expectations lay on her mind and because she’s also a tad pretentious,she keep training to be a medicine cat for the sake of status and power that comes with the job. Her arc could focus around her learning that the path you take has to be one you’re PASSIONATE about. Or else,you won’t go far. She can also learn that no matter how special everyone says you are,no matter how much support everyone gives you,you still have to put in work on your own to get where you want to.

I know we like Bristlefrost and we like Ivypool and Fernsong but they have the same problem. Yeah, the warriors team would never write anything that complex. It's a great idea but it's going to be something really simple like evil spirit cat. Unfortunatly....also why is every single cat having voices in their heads recently? Did they forget they wrote entire series with the characters barely interacting with spirits? Like in the first series it wasn't even fully clear Starclan was real until they definitively gave Firestar nine lives. I'm not saying they have to go back to that just that they can do a story without it being revolved around evil spirits. Like Darktail's plot was like that aswell. They gotta choose a new plot device

I think she probably would be a chimera because of her unique eyes - like you said, heterochromia is almost always a blue eye and a different color. If it was two sets of genes, the green and yellow eyes make more sense

It would be SO COOL if Moonpaw ended up being ThunderClan's first mediator! I've been really excited to see if any other Clans take on the 'new' tradition, and making a new character would give them new opportunities! It would be interesting if Moonpaw began training as a warrior apprentice, but then became a medicine cat apprentice due to not 'fitting in'. And then becoming a mediator, being 'long distance' trained by Tree due to being horrible at medicine.

There are a lot of spiritual things they can do with Moonpaw. But I absolutely ADORE her design! So much so, I made an OC that’s her descendent. A ginger-and-black tom with a half ginger, half black face. His name is Halfwing. He was named for his half-and-half face and his ability to make really big jumps, described “as if he had wings.” He isn’t a POV MC but he is a good friend of the ThunderClan POV MC. He becomes mates with a feisty she-cat named Gooseberry.

Thank you for explaining what a chimera is. I've been struggling with some people I chat with regularly about Warriors trying to explain the split face isn't what makes a cat a chimera nor is it a sign of one. I gave examples and... then one said they made Mapleshade a chimera since she's a black cat on one side and a ginger and white cat on the other... I never wanted to shake someone through my screen so badly. Also, while yes it'd be cool if Nightheart and Sunbeam were the parents, I do like her parents are not previous protags (even if still closely related, being sister to Bristlefrost and stepbrother/BFF to Nightheart). I wish she were the kit of Shellfur and Fernstripe, making her the first "halfclan" kit to be born under the new code allowing for the switching of clans AND has the benefit that ThriftBay has where they're unrelated to previous protags (most I got for them is son of friend(?) of Ivypool/Dark Forest trainee and Crowfeather's apprentice). Plus the benefit of them being completely unrelated and keeping ThriftBay from needing to happen so we can return to shipping PlumThrift and headcanoning Gayshine.

Bayshine is fairly relevant in the most recent arc being a best friend of Nightheart. Sunbeam was a background character prior to this arc… I think it’s good that other families get to be explored. Also Sunbeam literally told Nightheart she didn’t want kits yet, when they spoke about it, so having moonpaw be her kit would require a large time gap to make any sense… and with how much is going on right now, that would gloss over some interesting stuff.

I like to think her orange is actually diluted, since that is actually an outward apphearence a normal cat wouldn't have as well, form of the colour cats like Russetfur, Rowanclaw and Squirelstar have, those colours are already generally unfounded in nature and if we are making up genetics already why not. My basis for this is that most dark red looking cats in nature are just black cats and that there is no normal case for a cat to have dilution and normal colur otherwise, like a gray and black cat would probably be a chimera. Or we could say she has two types of black fur but one caries the trait for it to look more brownish/reddish in some lighting but if we follow that lighter orange they showed off I like my first suggestion more.

Sunbeam told Nightheart “yes, but not yet” when they asked about future kits in the current series because she wanted to know him better before making that commitment. Sunbeam isn’t ready to have kittens, it wouldn’t have made sense for Moonpaw to be her kit.

Ok, I generally do not know if anyone else has said anything about this, but… Moonpaw would not be the very first cats to have heterochromia. Though it’s never mentioned in the books, if you go onto the warriors wiki and search up Reedclaw (she’s a SkyClan warrior) she appears to have one blue and one yellow eye.

If eye color is not specified in the books, then it is up to the designer's interpretation/artistic choice. the wiki is not officially run by the warrior cats writing team or anything like that. so it's just something a fan decided to do since the eye color in the books is never stated.

Ok,what I think will happen: 1:voice is bristlefrost, and bristlefrost comes back to life becuase moonpaw free's her, but other cats who also died in the dark forest came back, then the clans immediately k!ll ashfur and the other bad cats 2.Rootspring changes to thunderclan for Bristlefrost 3.Storyteam relize who moonpaw's parents are and try to change them 4.they go to the new territory and Tawnypelt finds the clans their new home 5. All clans merge together, maybe called Moonclan? (After moonpaw, who might be the 1st lead) 6.Leafstar retires 7.Tawnypelt becomes deputy 8.New rules 9.Oh yeah, moonpaw becomes leader becuase clans are named after the first leader 10.(this might happen after) Bristlefrost becomes leader!(I just like her) 11.NEW SERIES!!!

I definitely think Moonpaw is a chimera cat (I head cannon that she is actually a black and white that fused with a ginger and golden torbie), and I think the writing team could actually know what chimera is, but they could have used it because it’s the most common interpretation of the word.

3:29 yeah, that picture is undoubtedly 100% fake lol the eye colors actually are a very good sign she's a chimera cat! while it does bother me they mistook a common tortoiseshell pattern for chimerism; it's a mistake a LOT of people make. so I can't blame them too much when they never cared about genetics in the first place. and whether they knew it or not, the eye colors they chose is a perfect example of a chimera cat! there are very few other reasons a cat would be born with heterochromia and not have one eye be blue.

I agree with these points but I don’t see why people care that much about the accuracy of her genetic coloration when warriors has never been accurate about genes anyway. The whole thing with her parents being cousins thing though is very uncomfortable. But hey if there are people out there who don’t really care for this character there’s always dove wing. I mean she basically has heterochromia due to the whole green and blue eyes debate.

little hungry warrior has a good video series on cat genetics, but short version of what i learned from that series: moonpaw's pelt doesn't require her to be chimera her eyes don't require her to be chimera but i guess she's a chimera since the writing team said so also if you screw around enough you can have about 5 generations of firestar's family tree look how they've been said to look (unlikely percentage rolls but still 100% viable!)

Moonpaw reminds me of early warrior cat oc's with the level of special being thrown on her, in a fun way. I saw the provided silhouette while you were talking and was like "that's just a regular tortie/calico," glad you addressed that. Her eye colors aren't caused by white spotting at least, that only produces blue eyes. I'm a bit disappointed that she isn't more uniquely designed for it, honestly. Reasonably, a cat like Blackstar is more likely to be a chimera than she is. Though if her chimerism is the tortoiseshell and a bicolor or high white cat, that's neat. Especially because her fur pattern is as spread out as a tortoiseshell but she has a white underbelly (the color splotches on torties/calicos merge more the more white they have).

MoonPaw is such a confusing cat genetic wise and like StormCloud would of worked MUCH better as a father because COUSINS 😭, but, since the writing team REALLY wants her to be a calico cat they resorted to cousins (Like the chimera thing would be way more real in my opinion if they made her half grey half black. Then StormCloud could work as well)

Fun fact: The reason the face is so often half and half, is because of bilateral symmetry, which iirc all mammals have. Btw, that picture of the green and yellow cat is almost definitely photoshopped, just draw over one of the eyes a little with green and boom I was so ready to talk about how I doubt she's a you chimera (cause so just watched a series on this) just for you to do it all for me. I'm surprised it took them 70+ books to make a canon heterochromia cat. Maybe it's because Douwing and Brightheart have been drawn like that for a while.

Actually, she could be a chimera, but not for the half and half face. While tortoisehells and calicos are the result of the same genetics, the white that calicos have causes the splotching to merge into larger sections, thus their very different appearances. Moonpaw, however, is shown to have a more tortoiseshell-like pattern, despite her white throat and underbelly. It's possible that she could be a chimera of a tortoiseshell (with no white) and a bicolor/high white cat.

The thing is, split face can both be a trait of chimerism and not- the authors picked the worst cat to try and convey this idea with, because she's a female tortie. A grey and black patched cat could have been more easily identified as one- or a male tortie. Or she could still be a tortie, but have some solid black, and some brown tabby- which maybe she is but they don't describe that. I think my bigger issue is that the clan cats definitely don't have a concept of what a chimera even is. But yeah regardless, you /can/ have a form of microchimerism, where only a small part of the body has different cells, which would form a single patch of different colors. That can also cause the face thing, but again, you'd not readily be able to tell with a tortie.
