Thank you for the video. I wish there were more peeps that filmed the whole procession. I understand it was windy and raining however what has happened to the essence of pride or as Google perfectly define it ‘the indispensable quality which determines its character’. Apart from the drums that seem to have a physical effect on the heartbeat and triggers the need to move ones body, there were about half a dozen groups and half a dozen individuals impressively dressed and dancing. The rest looked like they couldn’t be bothered wearing plain clothes, standing on a float or following one having a little jig to the music as if they were standing around a group of handbags. If people aren’t going to put in the effort, it really only takes one person holding a business placard to show they support pride. Maybe this is down to the organisers who have lost the ethos. Surely pride is a celebration of colours, carnival costumes, rotating dancers as you need to keep everyone entertained en route. Maybe announcing a winner who gave the best performance(cup or goblet as prize)will get peoples Mojo back. Otherwise, the only person that stood out to me was the lady that said ‘ Lovely to see you, Thank you for being here’.

Many years ago Gay Pride was a great spectacle. All around the country folk lined up to take place. I attended a few back in the day and support was there for the LGB community. Then the G was dropped from Gay Pride. So now anyone can go along and be proud of whatever they are. That’s fine. But these parades are no longer about gay pride. They are about being noticed and in some cases, force-fed an ideology that we don’t all perhaps understand, nor agree with. So the dwindling crowds we see these days are more to do with the fact the majority of gay man and women are internally proud and just want to get on with life now. Forget the weather! General gay folk are not confused, don’t have anger issues, don’t want to scream in the face of those who perhaps don’t go along with their sexuality….. Just folk who are attracted to the same sex, have an equal, legally bound partner and a general life they just want to blend into and get on with. The equality which was fought for over the decades is here. However, with more and more letters added to the ever increasing Alphabet, it is no longer about Gay Pride. Folk are frightened to say the wrong thing. We already know the outcome. Personally if I have an issue with something, I stay away from it. Therefore the anger that comes with having a different point of view, I don’t have to witness. The gay community are not confused. Not angry. Not aggressive and abusive. No mental hang ups and generally content inside. So bring back LGB: Gay Pride. Folk may turn up then! I can add this. I’m not some old fogey. I don’t care what others identify as. I do care when certain groups gatecrash another group and claim safety in numbers. It doesn’t work that way. Being a general gay person is one thing. Being an abusive, angry, unstable person is another. Don’t demand folk adhere to your views. Earn it like gay folk did for decades! Anyone wants to go into the rodeo here, feel free. I’m not easily intimidate and definitely not embarrassed! Read this again, then again if you’re still confused! I don’t know a gay person who is confused. Just pissed off about being shoved into a group even they have no idea what it’s all about! Finally, I’ve noticed the worm beginning to turn in views within some the heterosexual community. Nothing worrying yet. But views which had long gone appear to be creeping back. Because adding this letter and that letter to an alphabet is grouping folk together who gave no permission or want to be there. All the letters of the alphabet versus heterosexual folk. Nah that’s cool. Keep ME out of that. I don’t identify as any of them. The G part is fine! Happy Gay Pride! 🏳️‍🌈
