It's the drug culture that causes kids to carry knives, control of drugs in a certain area are the cause of post code wars and teens are carrying knives because of this. Having lived most of my life in Cornwall prior to the move, it was an absolutely horrific culture shock for me. Within the first week of being there, we were burgled and a friend of my then boyfriend was stabbed on the way back from uni. I saw teens robbing jewellery shops, I was assaulted by kids on bikes on the way back from work, we heard prostitutes heckling all night, police helicopters overheard most nights. @@funkubus421Nah. You are right. Cornwall isn't anything like Middlesbrough. I live South Coast now. Grew up North East. And it's a different kind of rough up north. Oddly though, the people are friendlier that aren't in gangs. I always explained the first 20 odd years of my life in the North like this. You get both extremes. You got people that are rougher than rough. Glass you, stab you for nothing just coz they in a mood. But at the same time. Strangers are also overly sound when they want to be. I used to go out drinking. And lads would get you to drink with them at their table if you are just on your ones or with a mate etc. People in shops and strangers on busses just chatting to each other. When I moved down South in my early 20s. I had my Mrs looking at me all strange for talking to strangers in the supermarket or at the bar in a pub. You don't get that down South. Sadly I've loves here nearly as long as I lived up North now and I'm one of those Southerners now and I barely talk to strangers. Ppl just think ya after something like you can't genuinely just be saying hello. So yh. North - friendliest and roughest part of England in my experience. I don't think London knife crime is rough. @carlavanda158511 ай бұрын
@@tudorDaDefenderthe data suggests that imprisonment increased not because crime rates have increased significantly over the past couple of years, but because sentencing has toughened up over 2023 to meet electoral goals. Meaning lower turnover rates, when budget wasn't proportionally allocated resulting with prisons overflowing, lacking resources and staff (hardly a ground for social reintegration.) Actually, with our budget deficit increasing from a comfortable +1% in the early noughties to be well under -10% currently, we now deal with the domino effect of progressive cuts on education, health, housing, etc over the past 2 decades. Meaning that gen Z has been harshly affected, especially in deprived areas. IMO, this contributes for the UK now having the highest imprisoning rates of West Europe. Increasing sentencing is like pruning the weed instead of treating the root causes. It's a measure that, by itself, is unsustainable. But nobody really cares.

As Inspector Nick Glynn, vice president of the National Black Police Association, notes: “If you aren’t well off - if you’re young, from an urban area, black, or Asian - your chances of getting stopped by the police for drugs are much higher.” Police rarely bothered anyone where I grew up unless they were called to investigate a specific complaint. Even when caught committing a criminal offence, people are treated differently depending on their background. Researchers at the LSE found that, in London, people from the highest socioeconomic class - doctors, lawyers, journalists - were three times more likely to be let off with a caution for drug offences than people who were unemployed. Evidence suggests that experimenting with illegal drugs is roughly equal across the socioeconomic spectrum, and regular drug use more common among young people, but the vast majority of those in prison for drug offences are not from middle-class backgrounds.

Jail's are full. Young people need role models, guidance and a future which is difficult to imagine for too many. Back to Thatcher days when I left school I'm afraid - no hope no future. I was lucky but not so too many I left school with. Never worked, drug addicts, jail or dead. Terrifying to see it all happening again on steroids. Just thankful I've no kids 😢
@markstarmer367711 ай бұрын
@lizziestevenson9345 I left school in the Thatcher years. I and many of my mates got real jobs, apprentice electricians, plumbers, mechanics etc. You had a few interviews, done your homework etc. There was more of a discipline to succeed then I think. These days, most kids think work will come to them with little effort, or do useless degrees at uni. There is a sence of entitlement these young people seem to believe in, because parents don't seem to put the imput into their kids, and never say no to them. There is plenty of work about, it's a case of getting off your arses I'm afraid.

@@mssdn8976 We should have mandatory indoor CCTV in every home wired directly to the police station. Everything will be monitored. If you are getting dressed about to leave the house and you try to sneak a weapon under your clothes, the police will see it before you even leave your door. Only those with dishonest intent care about things like "privacy". If you have nothing to hide, there is nothing to be afraid of. The State can do no wrong. Everything they do is for our own good and we should learn to grovel and be grateful.

I'm from blackpool and it's pretty much the same here. People saying it's all because of imigrants annoy me, most of the lads walking around with knives are the most white British stereotypical lads you will see. The only imigrants I've seen have been working hard in silence and putting our own people to shame
@anfieldreds_189211 ай бұрын
very very good point. i’ve always wondered too, that stabbings you see on tv often relates to black youths. however, if you dig into non publicised (on the media) stabbings, many people will be surprised how many white youths are stabbing and killing each other. Just round my area a white lad killed another white lad, there was hardly a peep in the local news. everyone should look into stabbing stats and they’d be surprised. Lastly, we need to be careful, as if society breaks down, the easiest targets can be immigrants or non white British. the way things are going, society is on the verge of collapsing. It’s human nature to find someone else to blame. We all do it. Look at the Nazis, Balkans war, Rwanda etc. We need to be careful
@Xenuu11 ай бұрын
@@anfieldreds_1892 Well said, and I agree fully. In the last 3 years I’ve seen 2 people stabbed, both by white youths, my mum was mugged by a group of 3 white teenagers and a shop was robbed by a white teenager with a machete. I just wonder how long we can blame it on immigrants when we can see that isn’t the case. Surely this madness has to end soon, right?

Cleveland County was an invented area back in 1974...from parts of North Yorkshire and Durham. It was disbanded in 1996....so 'cleveland' as a place hasn't existed for 28 years!. Yes there is still cleveland police and fire brigade but that's it....people don't really mention 'cleveland ' anymore. Google any of the towns in the area and they are stated to be in either Yorkshire or Durham. There are some very wealthy areas in this part of the world , some very middle of the road areas.....the rough areas have always been that way round here....but it has become worse over the last 20 years....the reasons?....lack of any real investment, manufacturing industries wiped out......more recently the blast furnace....people cheering as it was demolished!!!. If you have a trade/profession/education in this area then it can be an OK place to live, you can live away from this stuff.....but...but ...there is a problem with scum roaming the streets at night, more police patrols maybe?. I wonder what the government's of the day thought what would happen when the jobs were taken away , closing steel plants, shipyards etc etc.....the ones most affected are always the people at the bottom, the unskilled , etc....sometimes maybe people can't retrain....or as Norman Tebbit famously said 'get on your bike'....the sad state of Teesside, the forgotten area of the North, never mind the country ....and as a reminder, definitely not Cleveland 😊😊

Working on a building site beside the magistrates Court in the Boro, at least a dozen times when I was outside having a smoke I was offered drugs ( mainly crack and vallium ) by teenage kids on bikes , and twice offered a " good time " for 20 quid by 2 diffrent young women , who were clearly drug addicts. The local labourer said 14-16 year old lads selling class A drugs was just the norm down there , especially in South Bank where he was from. I've lived in Stockton-on-Tees for six year, never had an issue with anyone. The thing I have found is, if you are in that drug world or in that scene of crime or violence, you will find trouble and you will have a sticky end. If you are just minding your own business and not part of their world, they leave you alone. Cleveland also doesn't exist anymore, it's County Durham and North Yorkshire these places are located in. Cleveland was ended in 1996.
