So many of my favourite locos were build in Brighton: the E2s, B1s, the Atlantics, the I3s, the Terriers, D1s, E4s and even Bulleid's Leader to a certain extent. I love the Super Bell Hill/ Stepney's theme mashup too; I just wanna see more of that.

Great Video! I really enjoyed the then and now comparison in this quirky little video (the use of jokes as well as history worked perfectly). There are some really interesting locomotives that were built at Brighton, including everyone’s favourite Terriers. I really also like the E4s like Birch Grove, and the K Class 2-6-0s (which were probably one of the Southern’s best mixed traffic engines), and of course the BR Standard 4 Tanks. Keep up the amazing work!

About 930 when you’re looking over the engineering dept( or what’s left of it) and Montpelier sidings. ( Montpelier junction is where the east coast lines swing away to London road viaduct ) some of that area and the sidings were rebuilt in the early nineties. The track became flatbottom and all the ash ballast disappeared and we had to stumble over mainline ballast. I got half a dozen bricks with the hardest mortar known to man still stuck on them. They d been part of a small remnant of blue brick paved walkway, probably part of the running shed ash pit area. Their paving a bit of my garden now. , a bit of the steam shed lives on

Very nice vid excellent archive shots of btn and the works. As an aside , when I started at bton in the eighties I was told that a driver, can’t remember who now, went inside the works when it had closed having a nose round , looking for anything “useful “ He fancied one of the large wall clocks so had it away and went home. Turned out there was a master clock and what he’d nicked was a slave clock so by unplugging it and breaking the bus circuit every single clock in the works and on the station stopped. And it took quite a while for the reason to be discovered. And the clock was no effiing use to him either.
