Brilliant little locos! I bet even Stroudley didn't dream they'd reach 150 years.. Can't wait for the Fenchurch story, she's my personal favourite.

I missed the premier due to work, but like... Thanks to that one clip it is now my official head canon that Stepney is a Timelord.... And also a TARDIS... But that's what you get when sentient machines are brought into the mix!

What I find funny is that not only did the Terrier design serve for 91 years total (which of course is just insane) but also tht technically speaking if you go by the Modeling Era chart the Terriers date back to the tail end of the Pioneering era all the way to Era 5 the Late BR Steam crest. That just goes to show how long these things were in service. Heck they saw Queen Victoria's reign all the way to Queen Elizabeth II. Id like to be able to see them in person someday but for now these videos will suffice.

I've got Hornby's take on 'Rolvenden'. I find it interesting to think - we may not have 'Poplar' to-day if it was not for 'Rolvenden' sacrificing parts, or maybe, if that Southern Railway fitter who worked on 'Bodiam' in his spare time in the 30s, had picked her sister to restore, we may be looking at the 150th birthday of 'Wapping' at a different TfL station.

Surreal to think, and wonder what they'd make of how it's lived on.
@ajaxengineco2 жыл бұрын
@@Terrier55Stepney I imagine the chap who rescued her that far-off day in the 30's would be very pleased that the engine he returned to service was still being cared for over 90 years later - and somehow I think Col. Stephens is proud that one of his engines is still in working order (even if she isn't painted his colour!) I would make an assumption as to Stroudley's thoughts, but if I get it wrong he might reach down with his umbrella and clart me on the head!

Something seriously needs to be done about this. There are about 5 terriers (+ Gladstone) currently in Improved Engine Green. Sadly there are none in Marsh Umber, or any other interesting liveries. For example, Freshwater is in southern green but once wore LSWR Mint and Chocolate, which is a far less common livery.

When I found out she was set to return in IEG, I soon spread the news to the other young volunteers, who were horrified to learn the long-awaited engine they'd heard so much about was going to be 'brown'. Needless to say, I agreed with their hopes for it to gain a new colour soon, if only for my own selfish hopes of seeing the return of K&ESR Green!
