2:07 Traction Interlock. Train will auto-apply full brakes when the doors open when they're not supposed to. Still, the chance the doors will somehow go wide open is highly unlikely. If on a pneumatically operated door there was an air leak, you'd probably get a brake application because of a leak before the door somehow slides open.

@TepicneoriTFFBAS3 жыл бұрын
This is different in Mexico City, is there’s a squish, the subway door’s will open a bit and then close. If not worked then there’s a second attempt, if that also didn’t work the subway will open the doors for like 3 seconds and will close again and no, ITS NOT A DRIVERLESS METRO. There is a light in the in the wagons that will turn on if doors opened, and turned off if closed, if one light is turned on, but the others are off, the conductor will make sure to do as I said in the comment before, that’s Mexico City!

In New York City, about 50% of the stations have separate entrances for different directions, or shared entrances but different fare gates for different directions, and yes these stations are sometimes not switchable between directions after fare controls.

In Washington DC on their metro, the driver has to make sure the train stopped in the right place, and they do that by sticking their head out the window to check a sign when they stop their train before they open the train’s doors.

Moral of the story is don't rush to board trains. When train doors are closing, do not attempt to board. Wait for the next train to arrive to safely board. This also prevents unnecessary delays on the train. Use your common sense before boarding! (Ranting 'cause this happens many times when I am travelling on the subway during peak hours. Make the journey pleasant for others during the uncomfortable rush hour, it goes a long way.)

Sensitive Doors Should have a Light or Bell attached to them so the won't Open when Light Up, And will Open if Not Lite. And They Probably Had a-Lot Doors Made With the Sensors and they Used All the Doors They have When Building a Train, That's Why they don't have all the same Doors, MONEY.

Lucky you didn't do this in Sydney pre-2006, the train would have departed with you still stuck, and likely you would be thrown from the moving train
@cupcakkehumpme17232 жыл бұрын
Unlikely. Most trains built post-1970s have safety features integrated into their system that prevents a train from moving off if the train doors (and possibly platform screen doors) did not close properly or, if during transit a door is detected as being not fully closed, will automatically engage the train's emergency brakes. These scenarios are always considered when designing train safety features.
@pwhnckexstflajizdryvombqug90422 жыл бұрын
@@cupcakkehumpme1723 Yes, in any other city that would be the case, but in reading accident reports you can see that in Sydney they designed and built a train from 1988 to 1995 that did not have such systems. It had a light that would illuminate when all the doors were closed, but it did not prevent the train from moving, in only served as a suggestion. All trains built before this had no such system or even lights. It wasn't until the Millennium train of 2001/2 that they finally implemented such a system and it wasn't until 2006 that they retroactively introduced it onto the older trains. There was a test train that had such “Safety” systems installed in the 1950s but it was deactivated after too many passengers would hold the train up causing delays. Also, Sydney was still running trains with completely manual doors in 1993. Manual meaning you could just leave them open. In fact, just about the only time when anyone actually closed them was when it was raining.
@inamartina99853 жыл бұрын
If you are stuck to the door will the train leave the station with you too stuck to the door
