Have you ever met a person who hasn’t ever heard the story of Titanic? Unlikely. Even if you ask a 10-year-old, they’ll tell you exactly what took down the gigantic ship. However, some survivors of the sinking legend would beg to differ. Here’s one of their stories, and it has nothing to do with an iceberg.
Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs. He’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion. And if what he said was true, something must have caused that huge explosion...
💥 Btw, guys, there is a cat hidden in this video. If you can spot our furry little guy, you're much more attentive than most people! Do you accept the challenge? 😽

SUMMARY:
- Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs.
- In 1912, Vaghinak published some books together with his father, a famous Armenian writer. His task was to take the books to America.
- They went to bed rather late on April 14, just like on the other nights. Shortly after midnight, something that sounded like a big explosion woke everyone up.
- None of the crew members wanted to say anything, but a few minutes later it was impossible to deny that the Titanic was going underwater.
- Vaghinak put his passport and money in a little bag and tied it around his neck. The Titanic’s bow was already underwater by that time. A lot of people in this situation wouldn’t have dared to take it to the open water.
- The water in the North Atlantic that night was just below freezing, at a scary 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-2 C). The young writer felt his arms and legs go numb, and he was understandably getting weaker and weaker every second.
- Then, he bumped into something. It was a lifeboat! But it was so overcrowded they pushed the young man with a paddle when he tried to stick to the boat.
- Vaghinak woke up alive on board another ship. That ship was the Carpathia, and it was en route to New York with lucky survivors on board.
- 12 days later, a woman came into the room. She turned out to be the person who saved Vaghinak. Missis Astor told the sailors that the young man was her son, and she wouldn’t let them go without him since she’d already lost her husband on the Titanic.
- Vaghinak lived a long and happy life and, as a great storyteller, he shared what happened to him many times. Interestingly, he’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion.
- It could have been a fire, and quite a lot of people actually believe that theory, saying that coal was burning in the ship’s hull.
- Another theory that explained the explosion claimed that there was a German U-boat involved in the sinking of Titanic.

Not just sleeping but sleeping inside, surrounded by steel... My wife and I used to live in an apartment facing the street. One night we were awoken by a horrific sound. My wife woken up screaming because she thought someone surely died, it was that loud... What was it? A shopping cart, filled with glass smashed and covering half the block during a hit and run (thankfully the homeless man pushing it was uninjured)... Point of the story is this, a loud, traumatic, explosive sound doesn't always mean it came from an explosion. Your brain simply appoints a label as it tries to comprehend what it is experiencing.

There is only one report of an explosion during the entire sinking of the RMS Titanic. Many survivors stated they saw sparks shooting from the funnel while it collapsed. Yes, there was a coal fire. Now, did this weaken Titanic's hull? Possibly, but it wouldn't even be noticeable in most circumstances, especially due to it being in a coal bunker, which in itself is a small part of a water tight compartment that ranged from 50-60 feet on average. Titanic was a well built ship for its time and wouldn’t have failed that easily from a coal fire, which were also extremely common at the time. Also, the man you mentioned that never stated it was an iceberg never stepped foot in the Titanic. Plus, no way it was a U boat. No U boats could make it that far into the Atlantic in 1912. And for the sake for argument, if it was a U boat, for the Titanic to founder, it would have had to cause at bare minimum 5 of the most forward or aft, or 4 central compartments to be compromised for her to founder. Titanic hit an iceberg. Her first 6 watertight compartments were opened to the sea. The crew fought hard in attempt to over come the sea, but the Titanic would eventually sink after 2 hours and 40 minutes, due to an iceberg as stated by survivor accounts and visible damage on the wreak.

That explosion most likely came just before the Titanic broke in two, and the main steam lines ruptured from being pulled apart. They had 3-4 boilers going to keep the lights and pumps going right up until at least 2:05am.

Maybe when the Titanic hit the iceberg the hull was breached near the boiler room underneath and the massive rush of water caused an explosion from a large amount of steam flashing instantaneously causing a explosion which would not only shake the entire ship but would also create a chain reaction compromising the structural integrity of the hull leading to its sinking.

Oddly, a book called "Wreck of the Titan" was written and published in 1898. It eerily told the events that happened on the Titanic years later! I don't understand all of this, but apparently, one of the crew left with the only pair of binoculars so that the watchman didn't have them to help spot the iceberg!

Since the chief steward of the liner Prinz Adalbert photographed an iceberg on the morning of April 15th a few miles south of Titanic's location with red paint transfer near the waterline we know *something* big hit that iceberg within the last 12 hours.. Whether it was the sole reason Titanic sank or not, it definitely *hit* that iceberg. There *was* a fire too. So it might have been a combination of factors (and why it might have came apart as it did..) None of these theories actually exclude the other ones..

Also, I've read the Titanic sister ship, the Olympic, was a actually the one that was used because it had already been damaged and couldn't be insured so it would have been a huge list financially. Both being identical, the names on the two were switched in secret. A win-win for the White Star Line.

My personal favorite theory is that the owner of the ship, replaced the newly built and set for voyage titanic with the old decrepit Olympic ship by simply swapping the name plates on the ships. He knew the ship wasn’t fit for service and that it would sink meaning he’d collect insurance money. Also, his competitors at the time were on the ship meaning he’d eliminate his competition. Also he conveniently canceled his being on the ship only a couple hours before the ship sailed away. And further more evidence to support this theory is that many people once arriving in New York were met by what appeared to be agents who offered them Large sums of money to keep quite on what they personally experienced. A man who survived and died in his old age was quoted saying as his last words “The Titanic never sank, the Olympic did. If I said this sooner they would’ve killed me.” Now most likely, it truly was just an iceberg and a sad end to over 1500 peoples lives, but if any theory were to be true it would be this one.

there was a coal fire on the titanic at some point but they put it out and moved all the coal to the port side which caused a 3 degree list to the port side then when the titanic hit the iceberg, the ship listed a little bit to the starboard side then because there were port holes open which caused severe flooding on the port side, and because of that it started listing to the port side again at a 9 degree list. the ship would have capsized due to the water flooding in the ship on the starboard side, but since there was that 3 degree list it kept the ship steady enough to not capsize.

His nose grew large and bulbous and discolored and covered in keloids. He was very self conscious about it and spent the last year of his life in virtual seclusion only allowing close friends and family to ever see him.

When faced with information that goes clear against the accepted consensus of experts, first address the most basic information. See for yourswlf if their cabin number even existed on the Titanic (hint: no, it didn't) Next, see if the names of the men could be found anywhere on the passenger manifest, lists of casualties or survivors.... Again, no. There WAS a man with the last name MorAN, but he was an American resident of Irish ethnicity. He and his sister had gone back to Ireland to collect their inheritance. When the jolt woke them all up, he gathered information, then went to get his sister and told her the ship had struck an iceberg. He made sure she got on deck, and she survived in a lifeboat. Next, if you want, try ro find ANY primary source documentation, like old newspapwr interviews with this man. I couldnt find any. Always check the easily checked basics first.

I was inclined to believe the coal fire idea, but it's pretty much been refuted as a common occurrence and not a factor. It's more likely they mistook the impact of the iceberg as an explosion based on how close they would've been to where the ship hit the iceberg. Some didn't even feel much of anything and I think this guy just doesn't remember as much as he thinks. Memories get distorted over time after all.

MRS. ASTOR (wife of Colonel John Jacob Astor IV) is a relative of mine. She was only age 19 when the Titanic went down (and pregnant off her honeymoon). Therefore, since the narrator got that part WRONG, she was NOT in her fifties, there is NO WAY that she could have stated, "this is my son!" It is a fact, though, that her life boat was not full, and they did take in a couple people floating.

I've read a book, and it says that the iceberg struck the titanic causing six small holes that started to flood the bottom, the water was flooding the side of the ship which made the titanic flip then loosing weight and breaking into pieces and it dives down into the ocean leaving more than 1500 lose their lives.

The steel of that time more than likely couldn’t handle those temps and became brittle. With the brittleness of the steel taking an impact even a slightly glancing one could have cracked the steel. The iron rivers were also found to be of inferior quality and were at max stress/strength levels before impact. With those two factors investigated and researched it’s quite easy to come to the conclusion. that poor quality materials combined with an impact against something as solid as a glacial hard iceberg and poor timing/bad luck is what sank the titanic

Odd, then, that Olympic was a successful ocean liner until 1934, don't you think? Why was her steel impervious to the temperature?

It could have been a german u-boat. First of all, tensions of Europe were boiling during 1912-1914, so the sinking of the Titanic could probably start more tension in the region. Secondly, Germany has sent out submarines far into the alantic ocean during ww1 meaning that it was slightly possible.

Not in 1912 it wasn't. U1 to U18 had unreliable, and smoky, paraffin engines, and those still in service in 1914 were used for very short range operations only. The first diesel engined boat with even the theoretical range to reach Newfoundland was U19, commissioned a year after the Titanic sinking.

One of the likely reasons for the sinking, was that Harland And Wolfe were supposed to use the most expensive Best Best Rivets, or No. 1. Rivets. They built the Titanic with the cheaper No. 2, or Best Rivets. I am not sure if this would have made much of a difference, as the No.2 Rivets are stronger along the length, but weaker aat the ends. The No. 1 Rivets are the normal strength throughout the Rivet apparently. It has been agreed that the hole was caused by the Rivets falling, but I think that there are a number of different factors, which on their own, would not make a difference, but all together, have helped cause the ship to sink. The dark mark that you were showing in the video, was when the Titanic was on the slipway, in Belfast. You can tell that, because of the gantries around the hull, it is unlikely that any coal would be inside the ship at that stage. It was believed that there was a fire in a coal bunker, when the inspection by the board of trade was being carried out, but they had put the fire out, before the ship sank.

I find most funny that for "german U-boat" - pretty small ships at that time period - they used mock-up of Akula/Typhoon class nuclear sub, largest monster of its kind to this days (actually its not much smaller than Titanic itself in terms of lenght and beam). And for torpedo something that looks like Sparrow missile... Oh - and dark mark on the hull from coal fire taken during time when there was no coal onboard ship :D
