Paratrooper here...... although you are correct about the reserve, you spent most of the explanation bouncing between HALO (skydiving) and Parachuting. These are two completely different things accounting for elevation, method of exit, volume of exit, free fall period, time before chute deployment, and the type of chute. In either situation, the chute is capable of "safely" landing two individuals to the ground. However, grabbing someone while in free fall during parachuting would only be possible if a collision caused an entanglement that led to malfunction. I enjoyed the riddle, and I know I am nitpicking, but provided that you almost died four times while exiting an aircraft the lack of consistent information was hard to follow.

I was actually in the situation with a ferocious dog. My neighbors dog had rabies and I was walking down the street when it chased me. I just ran down the street as fast as I could, and I outrun it... the crazy German Shepard gave up on me and directed it's attention to some guy working on his lawn. The guy stood still and stayed calm, like the supposed answer, and he got bit. He needed 20 shots!! So basically, it really depends on what kind of dog you encounter. ->5:05

So, I'm gonna have to call you out on that shark one. This isn't the right answer. You want to get to the sides if at all possible and if it attacks aim for the gills instead. In water, you're not going to get enough speed/force to hit the nose to get it to stop, where as ever a bit of pressure on the gills or even the eyes have a better chance of scaring it off.

Caroline Wall Honestly it depends on the type of Bear. For brown bears and grizzly bears you should play dead but for black bears your only solution is usually to run. Brown bears and grizzlies are just very territorial and if you happen to encounter one on territory that obviously isn’t theirs, then the best thing to do is to make yourself seem big and scary and seem dominant of your territory.

They actually teach the punching in the nose thing in the military. Seals have to do a 2mile swim through shark infested water. You're told to go for its nose if you encounter one. The reason the nose hurts so much for sharks is they have the electric impulse sensors on its nose. Its eyes are actually sort of protected by a lens

Actually, the nose is super wrong. Try punching underwater, it's not even close to effective. The drag of the water is way too much on your strength to really make an effect on the shark. The best ideas are to try and poke out its eyes or tear at its gills which it will try to protect

Umm, ok don’t play dead for the bear just stay still like the dog, never hit a shark in the nose, just swim slowly, calmly, and splashlessly to shore or boat. And while you could walk at night you can hide in the ground during the day. (most desert animals do and they don’t die after one day) You should stay in one spot only if you have enough water and if someone knows where you are. Plus the last statement isn’t true. Just sayin!

All others ie Grizzly, Kodiak, Polar, this would never work. Gah, kept watching and now I got a beef with the shark question too. Punch it? Seriously?! Next time you are in the water, try to punch someone underwater. Lets see how much damage you do to a thin skinned mammal. Best course of action is to try get some fingers into its gills. Depends on the bear. Most bears prefer fresh meat, like grizzlies. Black bears sometimes scavenge for food and will eat something that is already “dead”.

The one where you have to look the shark right in its eyes and punch it in his nose is basically a bad thing to do, you are not able to punch hard enough under water to scare it away so the best thing you can do is either stab the shark his eyes or grab his gills as hard as possible. Snakes, scorpions, etc. roam in the daytime as well, so it’s best to just walk at night. Walking during the day will exhaust you, give you sunburns, and make you dehydrated much faster. During the day, find shelter to sleep under or cover yourself with sand so you don’t get burned.
