This is sadly not a new phenomenon. We've had mass shootings that killed 22 in CA 1982 and 24 in TX 1984. Canada had a college shooting in 1989 killing 14. A whole decade before Columbine.

You can always call your parents afterwards.The important thing is to think of your own lives first, find a safe place to hide, & then call 911 but speak quietly so that the attackers can’t hear you.

I pray you never need any of these tips but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Just to give you an idea though: Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Somalia, Turkey, Nigeria, Yemen, Syria, France and Germany are just a small list of places other than the United States that mass terrorist attacks have occurred. This is why when u go to school your teachers and P.E teachers are telling you to stay fit and healthy because you'll need it one day. You also need to read books and smart. In real life u won't have time to stand like a stick just looking you need to think fast the first thing that comes in your mind that's useful. I dont here of shootings in europe every month like i do for the usa. Esp school shootings. How are parents not scared for their kids going to school every day. My kids would be home schooled if i lived in america. In Australia you can also have most guns but it is expensive due to the requirements, I think a big solution is to increase the price of guns. In australia you could even get a angun illegally BUT it will cost you like $10K. That would keep guns out the hands of students and anybody else that shouldnt have one. If you can afford a gun then you wouldnt need to rob people, Most young kids dont have that much money either and if they do, i think most would buy a car instead of wasting it on fellow students they hate If a gun cost so much too then people that had them would make sure that they could not be taken by anyone else. Increasing the price is the solution to americas gun problem or "shooting" problem

My classroom has a secret room we use for any possible shootings or attackers.It has a camouflage door that is a one way mirror,we can see out,they cant see in.Its the same paint as the class and it looks blended in. So if anything happens,I might be safe

And to answer your question an " active shooter" can be anyone. What makes them a terrorist is their intention. An active shooter may shoot because of a grudge or mental illness. A terrorist attacks for political or religious beliefs, and tries to scare civilians into not living their daily lives, or to disrupt way of life through undermining government or economy.
