I've always been taught to apply cold cloths or run my hands under cold water to help bring the body temp come back to a normal level when coming out of the cold/winter. I've been taught that putting anything warm or hot on some one who is cold or frost bitten will cause more harm. And I know the cold water helps since I've been doing this for years and years. I once made the mistake of using warm water on my extremely cold hands and it hurt really bad and I quickly switched the faucet to cold water and had instant relief.

I was always taught to lower the area of the body bitten by a venomous snake below the level of the heart to decrease circulation and slow the flow of venom to the heart. This would apply if the bite is from a deadly snake in which case a constriction band might also be used to slow the flow of the venom. Raising the bitten limb above the heart as you suggested will allow the venom to reach the heart more quickly which may not be a good thing.
@LifeSaverCPRFirstAid Жыл бұрын
Correct; when dealing with a snake bite, lower the area below the heart.

#3 Food Poisoning, I had that one to many times in my life as I know from my experience with this first hand is to make myself throwing up after I drink some water as it help to remove what is left in you're stomach so from what I can tell it helps to shorten the duration of the nasty feelings, also the runs are always will happen from my experience with this, an so saying throwing up is a bad things, well the ways it get so bad with the weakness, cold spells, an so much more that throwing up seems to help reduce the length in my opinion, an drinking a lot of water is good to help recover from this as well too. Great video an I find theses things interesting indeed...

Don't wash the bite wound in case of a snake bite. That's one thing you got wrong. The venom around the wound can be used to help identify the snake.
@babybookworm0036 жыл бұрын
You should also mark above the bite so professionals can track swelling
@MNNski6 жыл бұрын
That's a good one. If it is a non-poisonous snake there will be swelling but not much. The poisonous ones will create more swelling. By marking it in 15 minute intervals you can show the progress of the bite.
@christiantheologyunited37076 жыл бұрын
Ikemi Zyn yes you do wash it. The excess venom will infect the bite. Just take note of what the snake looks like.

"elevate the wound above the heart?" Is it suppose to decrease the blood flow hence slowing the poison going towards the heart? In the even if bleeding out, yes. But if the blood (with the poison) is moving back towards the heart, wouldn't it speed it's route there?
@MsJOHNBIRD6 жыл бұрын
I've seen all this many times before but always enjoy seeing it again. One thing I notice since I last did a First Aid course is the ratio of CPR. At first I was told five compressions to one breath. this then changed to 15 compressions to 2 breaths. Now I see it as 30 compressions to 2 breaths.

And now the ratio for children has been adapted too... improvements in my view!

On the torniquet explaination. The torniquet should be applied about 5cm above the wound because blood vessels tend to recede a bit when pressure is applied. So if the torniquet is too close to the wound maybe the vein can recede so much that the bleeding could go on internally

Oil burns, or grill burns: use cold Mustard. I've been burnt in restaurant work over 200 times. It will sting like the sickens but it works. I didn't believe it myself but when I used it I never left home for work without it. The cold kills the cooking of the skin and the vinegar will help by killing germs. For lacerations it's easy if it's minor, use cold water. I've been cut just as many times washing dishes. After the bleeding stops, stick your cut parts into the sanitation sink. Then get some band aids and a finger cot if applicable then keep washing dishes.

That thing with cardiac arrest isn't as easy as it seems. We were doing cardiac compressions on a person who was still in agonal breathing (which ISN'T really breathing, it's the body's last-ditch attempt to revive a person who's already dead; thus, it's not true breathing) and a bystander told us we're not supposed to do CPR on a person who's still breathing. Agonal breathing isn't "breathing," it looks like short gasping breaths and it's not true respiration. But even the police officer, who's trained as a First Responder didn't know it when he saw it. We, the paramedics are the only ones who recognized agonal breaths. I wish bystanders didn't talk so much when they don't know what's happening. They do it all the time. I like everything abt Internet except that it makes some people believe they can become as well-trained as health care workers just because they saw it online.

with some snake bites heating the bitten area can denature the poison and make it less effective and thus extend the length of time you can survive without medical attention and thats very important if you are in the australian outback waiting for the royal flying doctor service (upward of an hour depending on weather conditions and if there is a suitable landing spot nearby)

They left that out. I though "pro-to-call" had been changed for some strange reason. Or they just forgot the main thing to do before calling for help. Stop bleeding...
@Smartguy5615 жыл бұрын
This is only partially correct on #9. If someone has a nose bleed, 1close the nose with a cold compress (ice wrapped in a cloth is best) and then tilt the head forward. A cold compress will help the blood to clot faster and help the bleeding to stop. Just pinching the nostrils closed alone will be less effective.
@jaydendavis33206 жыл бұрын
1:53... Eleven!!?😮😱
@samuelbaron69074 жыл бұрын
I’m an EMT and I can say that two of these on this video are completely false. For serious bleeding the first thing you should do is put a tourniquet on the proximal end of the bleeding appendage and write the time of application on the tourniquet, now a days they will be able to save the limb once the tourniquet is taken off. They are also good for snake bites as well.
@LifeSaverCPRFirstAid Жыл бұрын
I do not believe you are an EMT. "Proximal" is not a certain location, it is a location in relation to another location; e.g., when comparing the upper leg to the lower leg, the upper leg is proximal and the lower leg is distal, because the upper leg is closer to the the trunk and the lower leg is closer to the extremities, but if comparing the lower leg to the ankle, the lower leg is proximal and the ankle is distal, because the ankle is closer to the extremities than the lower leg. Thus you would place the tourniquet 2 to 3 inches "proximal to the wound," not on the "proximal end of" an extremity. Also, anyone trained in medical response knows to not apply a tourniquet to a snake bite.

Okay so I’m no expert but it’s to my understanding that you should never elevate the limb if you’ve been bitten by a venomous snake because it makes it spread faster

Some of these things you should just call 111, calling 991 for a nose bleed is what drama queens do...😂

****Just because someone is unconscious DOES NOT MEAN TO BEGIN ADMINISTER CPR**** Like it says at the end, check for a plus BEFORE beginning CPR. Doing CPR on a beating heart is dangerous. And once you do begin CPR, monitor for signs of life, a deep breath, a pulse, the eyes fluttering open. NEVER preform CPR on a beating heart. - CPR Certified, First Aid Certified, Lifeguard Certified.

Nice ty.

This is true; though there is little evidence that CPR on a beating heart is any more dangerous to the heart than on a non-beating heart, it can still result in unnecessarily breaking ribs or causing other damage for no reason. You should open the airway & check for breathing and circulation (ABC's) prior to beginning CPR. Also, always get an AED whenever possible. -CPR/BLS/First Aid Instructor

You should also check if someone has a "do not resuscitate" bracelet or necklace on before you preform CPR. It's always best to respect their wishes.

I've had my shoulder dislocated before. I wasted my time going to the hospital to get it fixed. Then they take a long time for a problem you can handle in less than a minute. If you dislocate your shoulder: 1. Have your arms by your side 2. Bend your elbow at ninety degrees 3.Ask a nearby person to assist you to raise the dislocated arm the same way you would raise it to scratch your back. (Note: this will hurt) 4. Keep raising it until you feel it pop back in place (You'll be able to tell when you feel it).

If you have a severe nose bleed, put something cold on your neck. That will shrink your veins and reduce the bleeding. You can also do that and bent your head forward.
@kirstenpritchett88385 жыл бұрын
A bloody nose could be something way more serious then you think. You could have a brain injury and not even know

if you do cpr on a infat with a ratio of 30:2 wont have any effect, the ration for an infant before 6 mounths is 3:1 and after 6 mounths is 15:2, kids and infants needs more O2, so you have to start with 5 breaths.
