Moral of the story: don't enroll in for-profit colleges.

I used to do background checks for schools and employers. The lack of accreditation from Brightwood was a big problem for the applicants.

You know it’s easy to say don’t enroll in profit schools or to say this school use to be Kaplan... but I was in the nursing program. Some of us have kids and we don’t have time to wait on the waiting list for two to three years just to get into nursing school. I was almost done with school, this is not right.
@ninam10615 жыл бұрын
Same, for various reasons the nursing program at Brightwood was my ONLY option, the closest, the fastest, and surprisingly the cheapest compared to other for profit schools offering the same program.
@mssha19805 жыл бұрын
What kind of nurse? It’s not about how fast you can complete the program but if you have the knowledge to be certified after the schoolwork is completed. After you go to these schools can you find work? The schools usually aren’t accredited and you arent eligible to sit for the exam. So then youve wanted tons of money.
@mssha19805 жыл бұрын
nina m look for ACEN or CCNE accredited programs www.allnursingschools.com/articles/nursing-school-accreditation/ Or check and see if the school is accredited by your state board.
@DaughterofSarahisreal5 жыл бұрын
@@mssha1980 This school was accredited at the time, they lost there accreditation due to finance. Brightwood in San Diego had a 100% pass rate on there nclex exam. Also, I am not rushing anything, but what Im not going to do is wait two to three years just to get into the nursing programs, it doesnt make any sense.
@mssha19805 жыл бұрын
R riri I highly doubt any school has a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX or any certification. They likely got shut down due to a mix of graduation rates, job placement, exam pass rates and the % of students defaulting on loans for the entire school. Also when it’s time for you or anyone to go get your RN and above you have to restart because schools may not accept your credits because they aren’t regionally accredited. Trust, people aren’t just on waiting list because they want to wait forever. It’s also a reason why the DOE stop funding them and Virginia College. I graduated earlier this year. I’m single with no children and it’s WAS NOT EASY, AT ALL! Whichever school you enroll in next please make sure they are approved by the state nursing board and your credits can transfer if needed. I wish you well on your future endeavors... If they haven’t told you already get your transcripts and apply for loan forgiveness within 120 days.

I hope that these students will be able to get their loans forgiven. I know a girl who went to Everest who kept all of her documents from when she signed up, and she went and stated her case and ended up getting a full refund plus more. The school location she attended cut corners to save money which also ended up, in her case, placing dental students at risk. Everest failed to provide the students with badges that would measure how much radiation they were being exposed to, and also broken X-ray machines and out of date lead vests which patients/students wear when they’re having X-rays done which caused them to be exposed to radiation over time. Many of these programs at these “colleges” can be taken at community colleges as well as other private non-profit vocational training schools that are actually reputable and don’t charge an arm and a leg!

I had done 4 months as an HVAC student. I had like 8 months to go. But now if I try to enroll in another school how long will it take me to graduate: 2 or 3 years? They usually don't have 1year programs. Not the schools in Brownsville, Tx.
@mssha19805 жыл бұрын
Gabriel Garza go speak to someone at the local colleges. Your degree may have not been accredited so you likely weren’t going to be able to find work after graduation anyway. Check your local labor unions. They pay you and will teach you as well for trades.

Money corrupts. Certain sectors of society SHOULD NEVER BE up for business: Medical, education, housing, common foods and everyday items. When you mix money with whatever it is, it is inevitable that it will corrupt it. We're greedy by nature, so when money is in the mix, we naturally shift our focus and efforts toward money instead of what it is. That is why money corrupts, because we can't help but be greedy and take advantage of whatever we can for what ever reasons. If education, housing, and medical were up to the "free markets", most of the population will be on track for poverty and slave labor.

Try a state school (Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University or East Tennessee State University) Community colleges are also another option (Nashville State Community College or Volunteer State Community College). And lastly, if you were in a trade you may want to consider TCAT (Tennessee College of Applied Technology). Also, if you took out any government loans get in touch with your lender. You can also check out studentaid.ed.gov. They have a number of different options for students experiencing closures. Best wishes to you, so sorry this happened. In the future it may be best to stick with state schools. Corporate entities have entirely too many problems.

They’re sending emails to all Brightwood students. It tells you about loan discharge you have to communicate with your loan provider this should be located on your federal student aid account. Log into studentaid.ed.gov/sa/# then all your loans should pop up on your screen and then the direct web page should be located on this website and you call as soon as you can. They’re giving a 120 day period for students that have graduated can apply for loan discharge.

The students are like lemmings jumping off a cliff. This is what happened when colleges stopped being places for learning and more as a vehicle for elevating "marginalized" people. It doesn't have any value unless you are on stem track. Otherwise, go get a trade, tech certification, an RN, or as the college educated always told everyone else..."LEARN TO CODE!!"
