A wonderful Orlofsky, with just the touch of oddness that goes with the role. Visually very convincing as well. I got the whole performance on DVD and I simply love it!

In my opinion this is the best performance of this aria. Even if some people prefer Ernman (I don't so) Mrs. Fassbänder is accompanied by (in my opinion) the best Strauss conductor who ever lived. Thanks for posting All the best

She is absolutely fabulous in everything. My favorite Fassbaender performance is in Kurt Weill's Seven Deadly Sins. Absolute perfection.

her voice just has very good larngeal quality, meaning her low registers she can sing excellently in chest voice. There is no pushing or squeezing involved

eelco67 you can even hear it pinging right off the back wall of the Bayerische Staatsoper in this! A phenomenal sound. It’s incredible to think she sang Olga to Wunderlich’s Lensky... one of the greatest living singers of our times.

Wonderful. The best I've ever seen. She looks like a man, too. I've seen others with tons of lipstick and eye makeup whose faces looked totally female and I wondered why on earth they did that.
