Please remember and call the temple as Raja Rajeswaram (Periya koil means Big temple) it is named by cholas.. These pallavas conquered and changed name as Brahadeeswara temple.. Even pandyas didn't change the names they respected cholas and Shiva...

Sister.. brihadiahwara is just sanskrit name of peruvyddaiyar... Periya- brihad.. odeya-ishwara.. there's not change..in English he can be called as the great lord .call him big ..call him small..he is everything and he is everywhere.. he is the lord of the mountains.. inseperable from the daughter 9f the mountains...jagatah pitarau vande..parvatioarameshwarau.. so it was rajarajeshwaras blessings n wish that he made Raja Raja chola very great M not a tamilan
