I have a 12K which I reduced in weight to 11 kilos and I know to a certain extent what you say is true where the weight is concerned but I also own a P Line which is exactly 9 kilos. I was deliberating between the T Line ( 7 kilos + ) and the P Line and opted for the latter as it was a question of costs. I can honestly say that both T Line and P Line versions for me are not heavy as I do not have far to carry my P Line and when I tested the T Line version i found it really versatile to carry so I guess it is a question of each person’s strength where carrying weight is concerned. Had I not owned the Black edition as well, I would have certainly got the T Line but one cannot have everything in life..! It simply a pity Brompton do not buy back bikes as i would now sell both my bikes and get a 6 speed Ti version which did not exist when I tested the T Line version at a bike trade fair. I any case, one cannot go wrong with a Brompton.

Still in doubt about this one. But seriously that chain slack when you fold it, not sure if that is meant to be. Also it must not be easy for Brompton dealers to stock different parts again. I'm really torn about this. On the one hand, it seems like an amazing new bike, able to do all those things I wish my Brompton could, but can't. On the other hand, it's a new bike that won't be able to do all the things that I'm glad my Brompton can, like fit in the overhead luggage shelf of the train, in my luggage for the plane, and be light enough to carry around the supermarket or throw in the shopping cart. It seems to have lost as many use cases as it has gained, maybe more. If you don't take your Brompton on the plane or train, or to the supermarket, then I guess you won't be missing out much. In that case, it seems like a gravel bike that fits inside your car or in your apartment better than a full sized gravel bike? I don't plan on trading in my C-line for this. If I were to trade in my C-line, it would be for a P-line probably.

@CrappyProducts3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think you hit the nail there. One thing I don't like about my P-Line electric is that the ride is quite twitchy, and the G line probably does solve that, but then it loses on all the other departments. Ultimately one buys a Brompton to be light and easy to carry and this goes against this.
@richmck0073 ай бұрын
@@drewsmith7726 This is not a conventional Brompton. Let’s all understand this. It is a gravel folding bike without doubt. Weight is a factor here as one cannot just pick it up and carrying into a shop, on a train, plane or up and down stairs without ease as is the case with the P Line and the T Line. So Brompton have opened up a new market for themselves which Is understandable. Yes, the P line is what you want. Or even the T Line for lightweight capability.

A top video, as ever, and thanks. The weight. Omg!! Crazy heavy. You can see what is coming over the hill, a titanium version. I tested the Austin Cycles folder and it was like riding an e-bike. Being so light, it made a huge difference to the ride. The dead heavy feel of riding a steel tarmac leveller doesn’t do anything for me. I have a 1992 Scott MB which is lighter than that and isn't fun to ride compared to my newer 2012 MB which is way lighter and cheaper. I suspect the weight will cause issues, as will the new hub & disk brakes once people start using them. I'll stick to my CHPT3. It is a great innovation and look forward to seeing how it gets on once people have used them for over 6 months, but I wonder how many will want them at that price and weight, compared to other options? as a Brompton owner on my 3rd bike I am impressed with the larger wheels, disc brakes and gears. I would like to know if the centre of gravity of the bike has changed, I am 6'2" and have the extended pillar, when I stop I rest 'en pointe' . taking sharp corners / bends means I have to slow down or the bike will slide away under me and I hit the road, this has happened many times. So is the seat height to wheel ground contact a different measure? could standard rims and tyres be used in place of the 20" ? would there be a benefit?

I like that Brompton has finally decided to make 20inchers but 15kgs? It's quite heavy for a 20inch folding bike though I can tell that the frame is robust like standard Bromptons. But with an alloy fork and stem, I really think that the overall weight shouldn't be 15kgs. Probably because of the tires as it mentioned that they are 20x2.1 and knobby/groove type. Why can't Brompton make all stems like T-line where it is easier to change handlebars. It's quite cumbersome to change handlebars especially on M types. Why can't Brompton in general, make the classic C/P or T line to 20 inches? I think it will still be compact and the ride will be smoother? But hey, it's just me. IMHO, I would still go for a Tern 451 or 406 like the Verge P10 or BYB if I want a 20". Brompton is known for being light and compact but this G-Line really doesn't have both.

Thanks for watching and for the question We often ride on gravel (ish) paths / tow paths etc with our Bromptons The main things we have found are to have a comfortable saddle, comfortable grips (to reduce vibration through the hands), grippy pedals (we prefer the superlight where one can be removed - they are grippier to us than the G Line ones) and .... run the tyres at their minimum (or close depending on your weight) psi rather than pumping them up too hard and make sure to ride the bike "lightly" - absorbing as much of the bumpiness with your elbows / knees rather than sitting heavy on the saddle and expecting the bike to absorb it all

Looks interesting but the weight and folding size is worrisome. And that fork is aluminum alloy instead of just steel or carbon is weird, might make ride quality a bit bad. One big improvement they could have done was making it belt driven, that would make maintenance easier and more resistant to dirt on off-road situations.

They really do ride very nicely! We have a lovely little gravel route if you want to take one out for a test ride. Thanks for watching!

Can you do a G Line Electric specific video? Would be interested in knowing if the new bag frame matches up with the cut outs for the C Line Electric bags, hence able to retrofit old bags on to the new battery frame etc
@brilliantbikes2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question! We will do a G line electric video when we get our demo bike in. It no the bag will not go on the C or P line electric, we tried! Thanks for watching!

@@brilliantbikes I understand that the battery frames don't fit, but are we able to remove the frame from the new bag, and retro fit the new frame into old bags assuming the cut outs in the bags are placed at similar locations

Can you compare the G-Line to normal Brompton's regarding all the noises? Is it as loud as the standard? Or are there less rattling noises?
@brilliantbikes3 ай бұрын
Great suggestion, we will look to add that to our ride video, I’d say it’s quieter than a 6 of 4 speed. Thanks for watching!

Looks very flashy dashy, chunky tires would be amazing on loose ground. I do like that you can sort most issues on the classics with a small handful of tools though and this one looks much more complicated for those of us who know nothing 😂. I couldn’t afford it but then I couldn’t afford a new Brompton of any type. I love my ancient, 3rd hand and rickety one though.

Lots has been made a about how this rides differently to a regular Brompton. Looks like the front fork offset is different to offer some trail. Big question is... Can this one be ridden no hands?

34 spoke rear wheel... What is this madness?

Thanks both for watching! Yes it rides like a planted gravel bike, this easier to ride with no hands. It is also easier to wheelie!

I'm wondering if the rear triangle could be swapped onto a 16" frame? Having 16 inch wheels with the Alfine hub plus a disc brake would be a nice upgrade for my M6R
@brilliantbikes3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching - and the question The rear hinge on this looks different - and the rear frame is a larger size Ben at Kinetics does however do a kit with a new frame which allows an Alfine hub to fit www.kinetics-online.co.uk/folding-bikes/brompton/brompton-alfine-kits/
@meera60243 ай бұрын
My M6L is currently with Kinetics in Glasgow who are putting in an Alfine 11 and belt drive. This requires a special wider rear frame or stretching of titanium rear frame. They can also put a disk breaks in if you want them.

In Dk the max. measurement for taking your foldable bike free on public transportations are 100 x 60 x 30 cm. The G Line exceeds width and length both by 8 cm, so now I have to pay for bringing it on board. Also I might be refused access during rush hour and buses are out of the question, since it's now a bike. A sad no go for me.

Thanks for great review! One question, are you going to or consider trying smaller volume tires? I ride a Dahon foldable with 20" wheels and 1.5" width (40-406 size), with Schwalbe "green" Marathon tires, and it's great compromise between the two options Brompton offers, I was wondering how a 20x1.75 or close to it might feel on the road. Thank you again! MC 🍀🚴🙏
