Think there could be rather simple explanations for a lack of Su talking to the crowd. In typical Japanese humble style they probably felt like it would be kind of walking on the main act's shoes to interact with the crowd and probably felt like letting Olli do it himself. There's also another less obvious explanation but this is literally the first and only (for now) time BM has played this song live and they had to learn a whole new choreography just for this. It's very possible they were more focused on doing that perfectly rather than all the other dances that they can probably do in their sleep at this point

This seems right on spot. It is pretty even collab, but it is still BMTH featuring Babymetal, not the other way around and Oli was pretty much the frontman of this song.

Not to forget Babymetal had some cool dancing that suited the song well. They probably haven't had much time to learn it, but as always they did an awesome job 👍👍👍

Yeah, I can live with that score, the energy from everyone was great and I really wish I could see it live. I especially like the last bit where all of them are together and just rock and have fun, that was really cool. Anyways, great reaction. ^^

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。BABYMETAL had done prominent crowd interaction in their own show two hours prior to this Kingslayer. This is the song created by BMTH and performed in BMTH's show held in the festival curetad by BMTH in Japan last year. The girls did not need to outperform BMTH in that situation. They did "REAL" (BMTH+BM on stage together) Kingslayer 4 times in Japan last year. I witnessed the 2nd REAL one in Nagoya on Nov.1. That was mesmerizing 😍 and I forgot to breathe during the performance. In an interview Momometal made an interesting comment like : (1) The theme of this choreo is "collision of souls" that has an image like we throw the power multiplied by the two bands at the audience. (2) We danced with our fullest power and rigid determination thinking "We do not care no matter what happens to us after the performance" I saw the girls literally do it. As I mentioned above BABYMETAL did this performance after their own one-hour show with their strenuous setlist almost without intervals in the festival.

More than 3 years we finally get this... Worth the wait.... I'm kinda biased, but everything with Babymetal sounds better live 😂😂 ... I grin hearing Ollie slightly out of breath, and you have Su dancing and singing without missing a pitch 😂😂😂 The only other version of this vid worth watching is Omijination's version, she did a great job cutting and editing. 😁😁🤘🦊🤘

I think babymetal is showing respect to their Japanese counterparts in this song by acting more reserved than the main act 😁.

I think BABYMETAL probably held back in terms of crowd interaction for the fact that it’s BMTH‘s song and set, they were only the guest here. But I think their dancing was pretty cool, for some reason I particularly enjoy the steps in the ultra-wide-legged stance. And of course the Triple H pose during Oli‘s final scream (I can‘t feel YOOOOOOUUU). :-) I‘m curious about the crowd‘s dance that is shown from time to time, the bent over stepping with the flailing arms. I have never come across that before. Is that a BMTH thing? For some reason I really enjoy watching it.

That's hardcore metal pit "dancing". Basically it's pretend fighting almost. You mostly come accross that style of moshpits in more extreme metal/hardcore crowds. You can probably find such things looking at live concerts of bands like Hatebreed, Madball, etc.
@Ennui.

To expand on Monodemons explanation, you can also find this type of dance at Techno raves... And well, this song mixes both genres pretty damn well. But yeah, mostly a Hardcore thing.
@MacTaipan
@MacTaipan 5 ай бұрын
To be more clear, I'm talking about the more "civilized" dancing at e.g. 13:08, I may have worded that badly. I actually find the overly wild flailing of arms in some other scenes pretty stupid and reckless in such a tight space.
@HDreamer

@@MacTaipan if you mean what can also be seen at 8:04 then it's something that seems to come from the Idol side of Babymetal. I've seen that style of dancing a lot at Idol-Events. Though I am not sure about the roots of it. (or maybe it's a Japan thing in general)

🦊🤘Nice one David, and I'm just echoing some of the comments below that the choppy video editing really didn't hi-light either what Oli and BMTH or what BABYMETAL were doing very well ... and the comments pointing out that this was BMTH's set, so Oli was front and centre, BABYMETAL on the raised bit of stage behind, so Oli was leading the interaction. It would have been very rude for BABYMETAL to try to take over or overshadow him. Besides all that, they were all having a great time and really enjoying performing together which made for a great performance for the audience.

They are both being booked on the same day at some festivals this summer, so we're hoping this live performance wasn't just a one off. Obviously it's difficult to coordinate this regularly unless they're touring together I think you should change up the way you refer to synthesizers in music - it's unclear and inaccurate to just use "the digital" and "the analogue" to differentiate. The vast majority of synthesizers in the 70s and prior were analogue, it wasn't really until the very late 70's through 80's where we really started to see some advanced digital synthesizers - but analogue synthesizers never went away.. brand new hardware synthesizers today are available in both digital and analogue forms To complicate matters further, some are hybrids that combine digital and analogue elements as part of their sound generation. But is that any different to when you put your bass through a digital delay, or any other digital effect? They were obviously going for the "chip tune" sound (referencing sound chips in early home computers/consoles) in the synth elements in this song.. so while I think they probably did just use a synth VST for this in the box.. I could generate these sounds on an analogue synthesizer too.. so they could have.. the chip tune sound is often just fairly simple waveforms like square waves Somehow I doubt you complained "oh no here comes the digital" when the Moog Minimoog solo started in Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd.. or when you heard Vangelis making the Yamaha CS-80 roar in the film Blade Runner 😋 I just think it's less muddy if you call them synthesizers and use something like "synth elements" or "synth sounds" instead of "the digital" - cheers

While I feel knocking the score down because of the no interaction by Babymetal maybe a bit harsh. 1st @15:31 you have Moa interacting with the camera, which beeing shown live on the screens next to the stage, could be classed as interacting with the crowd. Also around that point you can see Su Interacting with the crowd, as she is just behind Oly. Another point is that it's a Bring Me The Horizon video, not a Babymetal video, so it's very possible that the interactions done by Babymetal were cut from the video, something we will not know. So as I said, a bit harsh.

Nice reaction, and remember it's BMTH set it might of being seen as wrong for BabyMetal to interact over Oli, and they did interact hyping the fans up when they first come on . At one of the shows, BabyMetal came down and joined Oli and everyone headbanging on the edge of stage 😮 their where hugs, and Su said how happy she was, etc😂

They will be performing this live again, likely for the first time together in North America. At what, my guess will be the Sick New World Festival in Vegas. Both will be in attendance BTW. Tickets cost me a fortune as they were resells , but it will be worth it. The Kingslsyer project was 3 years in the making. Oli had been wanting to do a collaboration for years to return a favor from years past. Where Babymetal invited BMTH to open for their Japanese tour once. Everyone was hoping this collab would happen, but then the pandemic hit. So things kinda got put on the back burner. So, to see them finally make good on their promises. Giving such a f**** brilliant performance here really speaks volumes of both at this point. Oli had said at the end of the performance in one show. He would never perform this live again if the ladies weren't present. I suspect he meant he would prefer them to be there. However, it really just shows how much better this is live & in person!! Great reaction as always!! 🤘🦊🔥

TBH - while I usually agree with you in this case I feel you've COMPLETELY missed the point re the " Digital " as the digital aspect is the whole point of the song - but hey ho . Saw BMTH live a few weeks ago and their whole show is awesome and energy driven ( and very heavy on the stage graphics - which makes for an interesting show without taking away from the music ) .

The video might be visually better in Omajinations video but she used the fancam audio which is pretty horrible when compared to the proshot live audio.
@modiglian
@modiglian 5 ай бұрын
@@Tyypplwell, she couldn’t use an audio that wasn’t available, whoever edited this video had all of it and still did a shoddy work, cutting off 80% of BM+Ollie headbanging and interaction with the public, also cut off the dialogue post-song, which gave a lot of insight on the relationship among the two bands, someone new watches this video and can think “well, the record company put together these unrelated groups on stage for this and then walked away”. Instagram cropped video, plane switchings of 1,5 seconds… so he had proshots and inside stage exclusive footage and still made a mess of it.

@@Tyypplimagine whoever edited Queen’s Live Aid concert on 1985, does the same thing, cuts off most of Freddie Mercury’s interaction with the public, the calls and responses, the public singing when Freddie tells them to… I’d be up in arms looking for the name and address of that criminal 😂😂😂
@MacTaipan
@MacTaipan 5 ай бұрын
@@modiglian Well, the dialogs differed (or were completely absent) over the four (?) performances, so you can’t really call it „cut off“. Also, I‘m pretty sure that that part at the end of her edit where Oli sits down and (supposedly) said „oh shit“ was edited in completely out of context to add to the emotional effect. I believe that it was even audio and video from different points of time edited together. In my opinion, that‘s too much editorial freedom.

You see more of Su interacting with the crowd and encouraging them when they first come out. Tho the video is well done, I felt it jumped around too much and had too much of the audience in it. About the digital ... Bring me tho Horizon is booked for metal festivals but they actually give a shit about genres. Same goes for Babymetal. That´s maybe a reason why they are often booked for the same festivals, playing right after each other. And that´s how they became friends in 2015 2nd world tour. BMTH has no real music genre. Digital is allways mixed in with them. It´s not a traditional metal band although they are more booked on metal festivals.

Live performance? All I viewed was an art student video, who had a good budget but clearly clueless and no idea how to capture a live performance. Nothing more than a montage of images where the music, musicians and the BabyMetal ladies were totally irrelevant. How you gave it the score you did is beyond me. I would have given it one star. I don't believe I have ever scene a 'live video' which has been professionally produced and edited, totally fail to capture what would have been an epic collaboration to witness.

I am not talking about the Score. Cause your Scores for Babymetal have always been good. But the lines you say in your reactions are not positive anymore. It seems like there Is a intention not to say anything good anymore. It seems to be around the Time they masked the Kamiband and you actually said it videos ago. Your reactions before masked Kamiband were more "objective". You kept a balance between UPS AND DOWNS. In this reactions you can actually notice an "Ironic Intention" when you say BTH featuring "Babymetal". I think you dont enjoy doing Babymetal Reactions anymore. After saying all these words. Was it supposed to be lol. Not everything Babymetal does is so idol centric. Su-Metal herself as much said this once in an interview. She is well aware of perceptions & wants people to see that isn't all what they are about. I think we are going to start seeing a much more assertive Babymetal moving foward now. Ladies are experienced enough now to start being seen as something other then just some half asses Idol group. Which they never really were in the first place. Su-Metal is definitely getting more bold & speaking her mind now. It's a natural progression I am happy we are starting to see in them now. I definitely see it in Devine Attack-Shingeki. Which Suzuka has writing credits on now as an example. So I think we should allow them to evolve a little here. Not expecting them to stay within the Idol boundaries which they never really were within in the first place.

@@BlazinNSoul for me, the idol thing was the only thing that attracted me. It was cute and different. Now that they're moving away from that, I lost interest. I'm not really a metal fan anyway. And yes, I think they were a typical idol group that did metal.
