Lee's Top string is a 80 gauge... That's how he gets the bass sound out of it. Also down tuning. It's the Combo though that gives him that feel

You might want to buy larger gauge strings to tune low. I usually use Ernie Ball "not-even slinkys". I've been on the regs recently but I prefer larger gauges for tuning lower.

Agreed. Sempiternal was the last album I found the instruments interesting, since up to that album it worked for their style at the time. But for me at least the last album and these new songs just dont cut it for their new sound.

Yeah its true just because it looks easy doesn't mean it was easy to write. Ive written many songs with my band that end up being something different than they were. A lot of things get changed to match vocals and drums. And simple stuff has an easy beat to keep for the rest of the band.
