I am a 62 year old mechanic. I have used carb/brake cleaner and gasoline to wash my hands and arms for several decades. No it is not good for your skin, but when you don this for a living, you don't worry about your skin. The skin on my hands is already ruined anyway. I thought I was the only one in the world to use the small E string from a guitar to clean carburetor jets and passages. I have never found anything better. And no, it won't damage jets or passages.

I have one of these scooters. Drain fuel tank and put fresh gas in it. Still would not start. Went to clean card and what I would call shut down solenoid broke. So I got a Replacement the carburetor for. It runs for about 5 minutes and dies. Make a thing to hang above the carburetor to fill with gas to run to check the fuel pump and it does the same and the fuel pump seems to be working. The factory service manual calls for a peak reading volt meter to check ignition system and I don’t have on. Is there any ohms specific for checking the coil and stator

I have a Honda Scoopy, it’s just the overseas version of the Metro that I’m having an issue with starting. It used to electric start, now it inconsistently kick starts, we’ve switched out the battery, checked the relay. I say inconsistently because as we were troubleshooting it starting it stopped kickstarting. But it started after a day or so of sitting. We don’t hear the fuel pump, or see the lights, and the horn doesn’t engage when the key is flipped to on.
@mylifesucks3274 жыл бұрын
Check all your fuses and any loose connections, this sounds like a bad ground somewhere. Recheck anything that was unplugged or changed in the process. The fuel pump should most definitely a bit of a clicking sound. You can also try resetting your TPS sensor to help with the starting. Also good to make sure the new battery is actually in good working condition, you could have gotten a faulty one. But Im definitely leaning towards a loose or bad ground in your case, it's very odd for that many of the electronics to go out like that. Were all the lights working before the old battery had gone bad?

Is the ticking you hear when turning the key on your fuel pump?
@mi-yamata13274 жыл бұрын
@@mylifesucks327 We checked the fuses, they look good. Before we started troubleshooting the electric starter I was having inconsistent kick start success. We swapped the batteries for the old one, no go. They were both reading solid over 12volts. It's an older one out here in Korea so that also adds to the fun of troubleshooting lol. I'll try to find the TPS sensor and see how that goes. I rode it for about a month before I started to have issues. It was a bit weak with the electric start, but I didn't think about til I had an issue one day. Yeah with both batteries, lights on and blinkers work. The electrical display came on as well.
@mylifesucks3274 жыл бұрын
@@mi-yamata1327 Man that is an odd one. Too bad I can't do much more than give advice without actually seeing it. It sounds like either a bad starter, bad wiring/ground, or bad fuel pump/not getting enough fuel. Did the scoopy sit for a while before you picked it up? I'm a little unsure on what can be causing the horn to not work properly. I'm trying my best to be physic right now lol.
@mi-yamata13274 жыл бұрын
MyLifeSucks It probably did sit for a while. The dude who sells them out here finds scoots across Korea, gets them running and then sells them to military members, and has a good reputation, I just got unlucky. The mechanic he normally goes though has pretty broken English and prefers to work on Korean scoots versus Hondas.

@mylifesucks3276 ай бұрын
Bad gas, vacuum leaks, fuel pump being bad, unfortunately there can be a lot wrong and with these small motors, the small issues can be enough for it to run rough. I’d check all your hoses, maybe new spark plug, make sure good gas is in it, drain any old gas if it’s been sitting a long time.

Most modern bikes will have a tip sensor that will need to be reset, Ive seen some people simply compress and decompress the suspension by pushing down on the handlebars rapidly and it is enough to reset the sensor. GIve it a try!

Mine is sluggish from 15-20mph but then will accelerate like normal past that. It will still get a top speed of 37mph (eventually.) Is this a problem with the jets not being clean or something else?
@mylifesucks3274 жыл бұрын
So after some research and talking to some ruckus guys, most of these mods are almost worth nothing without CVT tuning. So that will be my next step. Mine seems somewhat sluggish as well. They said the CVT would make all the difference.
@mylifesucks3274 жыл бұрын
Hey man Im so sorry, I thought you had commented on the other video of the metro. So if the scooter is stock, the only reasons Id see that make it sluggish would be an old fuel filter, old spark plug, air filter/intake not sealed properly, or jets are partly dirty. These small engines are super sensitive to stuff like this, so it'd be good to go ahead and give it a tune up and make your air filter/intake is seated correctly. When mine was stock, the air filter was badly seated and made it sluggish. Just something to take a look at!

I’m having the exact same problem my met. It wont start after being in my garage for a year. I pulled the carb and cleaned the jets. Added some gas. And voila it started again! But… I live at the end of a cul da sac and went down the street to a stop and made a u turn to go home. The met is just died, and when i tried to restart it, it turns over but wont start. What do u think?
@mylifesucks3273 жыл бұрын
Did it stop abruptly or was slowly dying out? My issue was fixed during the video but started again because the same gunk in the carb was also sitting in the gas tank itself. Had to clean it out really well with fabuloso and let it sit overnight. Also had to use some alcohol to really get rid of that nasty gunk. Has been running without issue since then. A look into your gas tank through the cap hole might tell you everything you need to know. Or it could even be as simple as something may have came loose post install of the carb. It happens. Check for any vacuum leaks as little engines are very sensitive to them. A quick once over should be enough to find the issue. These engines don't have a lot to them!
