Thanks...6 years later and your video is still helping people like me!

Thank you for taking the time to make this. You saved me a lot of grief and a lot of time. I found that even a bread tie was too big, but a high E guitar string worked perfectly to clean the jet. I also found your video which helped me diagnose and change my fuel pump & filter. Again- thank you very much.

High E guitar string is the ticket. Worked. But it took a while.

Jon this is Elmer from Albuquerque New Mexico I want to let you know that the video that you showed it's best for you to use a speaker wire copper wiring you just split that wire as in a single and you can clean those jets with that much better that's just heads up for you and whoever else she's my messages and use carburetor cleaner as well until you can see lightning through the little jet hole 🙂👍

SHOULD THERE BE VAC AT THE TOP DIAPHRAM PORT WHILE RUNNING
@Jonehughes2 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of and it doesn't sound like that would be a good thing Spray some carburetor cleaner at the vacuum and see what happens

Keep your old guitar stings, they work perfect for this kind of thing!

Thanks for posting this, it worked perfectly and really was not that difficult.

Could you just replace jets with new?
@Jonehughes Жыл бұрын
Yes if you can get the correct ones But everything is a crap shoot It might work They might fit At least keep your old ones just in case they don't work And while you're sitting around Clean the old ones Have them ready for when it happens again

lots of them ;D (a regular philips head screwdriver and a set of wrenches should do ya)

How did you get that jet with out the skrewdriver slit out?
@Jonehughes2 жыл бұрын
Just tap the body of the carburetor and the Jet will fall out by gravity

bicycle gear cable will work, unravel one strand, poke it through, slide back and forth
@Jonehughes4 жыл бұрын
I will try that thank you 😃 It seems like that would have more tensile strength also
@gregneilsen29674 жыл бұрын
Get a brand new offcut from a bike repair shop for free. The gear cable, not the brake cable (too thick)

Nice find. This is the only thing to work for me as far as getting the hole opened up , but still having issues.
@ahmedsulayman99455 жыл бұрын
mine is start fine but does not go more then 18 MPH (2002). it is jet issue ? thanks
@jere6034 жыл бұрын
Yes it is - I have a 2005 same issue would not go over 18 MPH just got it - This solved it! - It had been sitting for one year - I also pulled the gas tank and cleaned out all the bad gas.

I've had that dam jet out twice now lol . Going to try it again I dont think its cleaned enough as I couldnt really see out clear . My scooter will idle fine just soon as i give it gas it boggs hope this will fix it .Scooter been sitting a year with stablizer fuel in it
@Jonehughes4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that really sucks you only want to do that once now you already know that 🤣 but anyway as you put something through there just go back and forth 50 times once you have the piece of whatever you're using to go through once you have it in there just go back and forth back and forth back and forth as many times as you need to to make sure it's as clean as possible you might even use some carburetor cleaner as well as the twist tie or whatever you're using and again just go back and forth 15 times until you know for sure it is spotlessly clean and it'll work great

there’s a coolant line? i’m pretty sure these are air cooled, pal. also why would a carburetor need cooling. i think that’s the fuel line
@aguynamedtim1912 Жыл бұрын
The Metropolitan was liquid cooled from '02 through '09, pal. I have four of them. 👍

Antifreeze line connected to the carburetor? I have never heard of that.. Is that some new style of carb?.. Hmmm.. Id be worried if I connected antifreeze into the carb... will never run after that... This video scares me!!!
@islandbry5 жыл бұрын
It doesn't go into the carb. As the video clearly shows, the line is attached to the outside of the carb.
@atvatv83914 жыл бұрын
That's the fuel line coming from the gas tank. He just misspoke that's all. Great video man thanks for sharing
@coltonmccormick48023 жыл бұрын
Its not technically connected just there to help the coolant get pushed around
@ranger1959ful3 жыл бұрын
That's the problem I'm having. Starts good. Then, it bogs down while trying to drive it. Not sure I'll take the carburetor apart myself. I guess I'd better.
