Just found this series and really enjoying watching. Love in depth/realistic mining videos over the eye catching "Look what we found in this mine!!" videos. I hope y'all end up doing some timelapse recordings of your work. I'd love to see some of that, on the mucking, mining, or cribbing process(es) rather than the jump cuts from "this is what we're doing" to "we're done".

1:59 - gawd, I am a sucker for lagging. Timbers set up like that are seriously one of my favorite things to see in a mine. 4:07 & 4:32 - what on earth are those white splotches on the middle right of the screen? That spring!! That has got to be one of the neatest natural things I've seen in any of the videos. Just too cool!

We have some heavy equipment now, but we need to do a lot of trackwork before we can start using it. A lot of the tracks and ties date back to the 1800s and it shows!

Yes, a lot of viewers are asking why we aren't already mining, but, as you correctly stated, there is a LOT of prep work and permitting that still needs to happen before we get to that point. Haha, yes, it did indeed look like a miner's skateboard.

Life's been hectic, nice to have some familiarity and routine left to rely on, see progress elsewhere, know not everything's gone crazy. @ADIT ADDICTS Not recently, though I still bomb it about on the bike like a lunatic! Recently I've been spending most of my time on the walls - 3 to 5 days a week climbing, getting pretty good. When life is stable again after September, I'll be ready for adventures 😊

I'm not trying to compete with anyone... I wish Gly all the best. And I'm working right alongside the other miners. So, I am not able to take a good camera back there. That's why I'm using my phone for this series. If I'm exploring an abandoned mine, I use my better camera and stabilizer. In this mine, the camera and filming are usually secondary to the work being done.

Much better thanks. I'd be paying around the top of each rail sleeper for gold dust lol In NSW Australia a gold mine flooded and pumping it out was hopeless. Bloke in pub asked if what they used to catch the dust. The penny dropped now it's Oz perday out of the mats they installed. 😁

It's below the water table... A mine is essentially just a huge sideways well running into the mountain. All of the mines in the mountains have water pouring out of them.

@@TVRExploring In an article from a local rock group, the author wrote about finding pickers around the old vertical support posts and also in the hole where a support post was removed. Might be interesting if gold were trapped on the downside of the crossties with the steady water flow you have there as well..

DId i miss video on backstory of when you started doing this mine? I thought i watched all the videos you posted...maybe make a Q&A video with questions people might be wondering about it all. I thought you just explored old mines, didn't do own mine. You own this outright? Lease mine? co-own mine? Why this mine out of every others? Expensive to get going? My uncle had a personal mine on his land back in the 80s-90s. Just him and family did it for extra revenue, apparently he made enough off gold to retire from over the years. Always fascinated hearing about it

The round timbers are on site trees they used for timbers. they were green wood when put in the mine and are a lot better than the square cut new and dried timbers. when ever you can get it use green wood not dried wood. i always used a ice pick to test old timbers and you can tell when a timber is rotted with a ice pick.

Really enjoy your channel...a great fan...Interesting to see you put all of your experiences to use in getting your own mine up and running. From my point of observation it seems to me, with all of the many mines that you have explored that you could have chosen a better mine to work...so much muck and debrris to clear out. Here you will always have to contend with all that constant running water, rot, mud, runoff and dampness...tough and challenging working conditions. Also I haven't seen yet of any prospects of potential payback veins or lodes. What is your assessment of the payback and the timing of making any monies?

The water is a constant in underground mines that run below the water table... It's a slight annoyance, but that's all.

It actually shouldn't be too bad unless it is in bad shape higher up... We need to muck out that bottom area and put ladders in, but the rock seemed pretty solid. Yes, we have maps and charts.

@@TVRExploring manways are not to difficult to build if you have good lumber. When installed a manway and ladders we must have used hundreds of wedges, timbering was as fun as blasting to me.

Yes, one degree raise as you drift,for that reason and when pushing loaded ore car out it glides down hill slightly! Those old timers had a lot of physics figured out.

The area above the 1660 has already been extensively stoped. Supposedly, one of the stopes runs up to the second level. We're thinking about driving a new drift around the 1660 since it is so bad.
