Finally a micarta from Benchmade, if it only was 5 years ago when you guys actually cared about your heat treat, qc, quality and you didn’t raise your prices almost 200% from back then. And it’s a 940, one of my favorite models, but I can’t do it, my last 2 BM knives were terrible I mean like what you would expect from a $20 clone.

Honestly, I loved BM as a kid. There print catalog was a crisp work of art. After many purchases they just don’t do it for me anymore. Seems they went on auto pilot and are happy to sell cheap materials at premium prices. Yes, customer service has always been good to me but I can count on one hand how many times I used them. If you were into this hobby from damn near the beginning of the company you would understand peoples’ criticism.

They build a good knife, they have a lifetime warranty (including sharpening) and some people don’t want to buy Chinese knives so they stick with ones made in the USA. Won’t be long that the Chinese knives will go way up in price so buy civivi’s, Kizers, etc. now if you want one,

I always wanted a Porsche 911 ever since I was a kid, but I was never able to afford one, but hey that's life. I don't whine and complain that Porsche is asking too much money for their cars, I just suck it up and drive my Subaru. Things cost what they cost and prices rise and fall based on a number of economic factors. If you can't afford a Benchmade, then don't buy one, but please for the love of god, STFU about how expensive they are. It's boring. Get a Civivi instead. They're fine knives.

you don't have to look very far in the comments section of any video about benchmade these days to see that they've got a growing PR catastrophe on their hands, regardless of which side you're on. I know their policy has always been to just ignore it and trust their loyal customers, but pretty soon it's going to be too big for them to ignore. I just hope, for the sake of their regular employees and USA-made knives in general, that they figure it out and get it contained before it's too late

Get a Hogue with g10 20cv or Magnacut for about $180 or a Benchmade knife with plastic handles with s30v for the same price lol. Heck, go with polymer handles and Magnacut from Hogue for $120-$130 even a way better value.

The customer market will kill them eventually. Sure they'll always be some customers willing to spend $500+ for a knife but I'm sure they've seen a drop in customers over the last few years and i know many of those customers are basically boycotting them by refusing to buy from them any more because of their ridiculous prices. Not to say their knives aren't great quality, they are but they're also overpriced by a lot. Most of their models are probably inflated by 30%-40% of what they should cost. Although the rep was saying they're introducing different steels for lower price points so I'm sure they're getting a lot of negative feedback about the pricing but they doesn't really solve the issue if they will use more mid range steels and still overcharge.

Is the shift of some model variants over to M390 due to the financial instabilities over at Crucible Steel? I do love my Benchmade knives, but if I started buying them in the last few years I'd only have 1-2 instead of a dozen of them, because they went from a bit expensive to James Brand levels of pricing. The problem is they've raised themselves to a price point where there are better knives available.

Thank you for the video DCA! I used to be a big fan of Benchmade, but not anymore. Their prices have gotten out of hand, and I just got tired of the constant uneven grinds. Not to mention I’ve never gotten one out of the box that had any decent action, not even from the custom shop. Sometimes they break in, more often they don’t. Why should you have to adjust the pivot and re-sharpen a $300 knife so that the grinds are even and the action is decent?So many other companies offer much more value for the money and often better materials and QC.

It’s not just cost, the companies importing are building better knives, in my opinion, companies like Kizer and Kansept are even building the crossbar lock better than benchmade, they aren’t even leading the market in their own designs, it’s a shame, I love my benchmades, but other companies are doing it better now, I won’t spend my money on an inferior product, no matter where it is manufactured

So fun to watch this! I'm SUPER, SUPER EXCITED THEY RE-RELEASED THE BEDLAM!😃👍 Even for a "Mini", that looks like a great size. I have always regretted that I didn't buy the original Bedlam because I love trailing point/Persian blades! That marbled carbon fiber version of the Bedlam - WOW . . . FREAKIN' STUNNING! Definitely going for that one - right to the top of my wish list! It looks like an artifact from a Royal Persian Palace or something! Also really happy they made a new sheath for the Dacian! I haven't bought one yet, and the sheath was something that was putting me on the fence a bit. Definitely going for the Dacian now. I'm also liking that new 491 Loaded! The only thing is it looks a bit small; I wonder if they're going to release a bigger version of the 491 Loaded?🤔? Maybe it just looked smaller on video. I'm a big fan of the Benchmade Vector and always felt it was a bit of an under-appreciated knife for how cool it was (I also like spear points - too many drop points in my collection!). On 1/1/2025 Benchmade raised their already high prices by 11% across the board on all of their products😬😡🤬 In July of 2024, I bought a Benchmade Osborne 940 with magnacut blade and burnt copper anodized aluminum handle for $270. Now that exact same magnacut Osborne 940 costs $300 at every online knife retailer, WFT🤢🤮

Whoever’s designing these “tactical” knives is not doing any “tactical” activities with knives I can tell you right now. The bedlams is badass but the blade steel makes 0 sense. S90v on a tactical blade… you want toughness and ease of sharpening not edge retention and stainless that literally makes no sense that’s not a “tactical” knife steel. Also, the bailouts are so far from “tactical” it’s laughable. Slippery handles, extremely thin scales as well it’s hard to get a solid grip on it as well as mediocre finger protection and too thin of a blade to actually do any decent penetration, sucks they removed the glass breaker too.

The Sog terminus XR exists. There’s a reason they aren’t popular. They feel like garbage. And the premium version of the SOG is only 160. Willing to bet the 491 will be above 200. They didn’t innovate anything. Pricing aside they don’t do anything cool anymore. They just release new colors of old stuff and charge more than they should. Maybe if they didn’t spend half their income on marketing they could spend some more on R&D and innovate properly like an American company should.
