The W124 was extremely over engineered for that time period. I personally have a 1988 300E that drives like it’s still new.

I’ve had a 1990 300e. I see a few with transmission issues. Is that common?

@ From my experience no. In would recommend having the transmission service done every 30K miles or five years. With more miles on the transmission, I would do it even sooner. What kind of issues are you experiencing?

@ oh I’m not. I don’t even have the 300e anymore but I like to buy and fix up old Mercedes. Got into Mercedes couple years ago. I just notice from time to time the old 300e’s having a transmission issue when for sale. Just curious in case I get one and end up having issues

Listen to me now this is the best thing you can do to this car First you have to take the whole car apart all the doors fenders wings interior etc. Then you have to cut the whole car in half(literally)then expand the chasis of the car by like 10cm.Then you buy evo 2 door and make a 1 of 3,2 door mercedes witch will have the whole door glass in one part even tho it has no back doors.You will literally make a 190 evo 2 but for the fraction of the price and it will be rare and cool.At the end you put like a v6 in ut rwd lower it down and it will be sick

These older Mercedes-Benz are very reliable cars much much better than the newer Mercedes-Benz which are no were as good as these older Mercedes-Benzes but why weren't you wearing your seat belts in Australia it's illegal to drive any vehicle without wearing living in a nanny state has its advantages but as for emissions our laws aren't as strict as the rest of the world and why are you modifying this magnificent Mercedes-Benz and especially in N.S.W you cannot modify you car to extensively because of the yearly safety check but again no emissions testing and talking about spark plug leads for my 1997 Toyota Hilux cab chassis rear drive ute l changed the spark plug leads not they weren't bad but l didn't know when they were changed and because l have the 22R engine the spark plugs leads were made in the U.S.A

It is not the most reliable W115 and the w123 are more reliable
