Bringing our School Down to Funkytown! (2022 Hootenanny)

A few weeks ago we auditioned for our school's talent show with good ol' Funkytown! Safe to say we passed and had the honor to perform said song in front of many more! Thank you everyone who showed up and supported, and we can't forget the stage/sound crew for making it all possible!!

On one hand, yes it's a rendition of Lucky Chops. On the other hand, Leo P has been playing for years to achieve that gliss and some of those effects. How many cover bands are built out of 50 year old guys playing Mustang Sally and Gimme 3 steps badly? Hell, the kids gotta start somewhere. Let 'em enjoy the stage and see where they go from there.

@baba booey dog Curved has a wider and bigger sound as the bell is facing up like a alto or tenor it also gives more imminent feedback but it still plays the same notes as a straight one. I'd say curved is better for preforming and straight is better for practice.

They eliminated the music program at my local high school. It’s in the boondocks of Michigan and really in need of something other than protracted sports for a select few. I wish the board could have seen this because I bet these kids started in a school program and with the help of intelligent parenting got them lessons without crushing their enthusiasm. Amazing job! The best music programs are the ones led by the kids and guided by instructors. Something to truly cherish because it is rare and the amount of time in the program is limited. Take advantage of the opportunity and it will take you far. Blows my mind they are freshman.
