This man was mentored by John MacArthur and R.C. Sproul; 2 of God's finest,faithful dulos of all time. Brother Lawson is an impeccable teacher, whom I praise God for. His teaching helped me get free from Pentecostal heresy. All Glory be to God. I honor and respect these great guardians of God's gospel. We are so blessed to have had their teachings. God Bless you, brother.

Really great discussion. I'll be giving my first sermon this Tuesday, at my college group to about 150+ people. I'm 23 and 1 John 1 : 5-10 spoke to me a couple weeks ago so clearly and for lack of better terms, brutally. Thank God for the convictions of my life, that have allowed me to know Him more to change my ways. Though I struggle, I avidly pursue him and repent. My past sins are disgusting to me and I'll be using my previous lifestyle as an example of being a fake christ follower, and how I was brought to the light. This is a serious topic that is on my heart because, a lot of college students have become really good at holding their appearance while mold grows from within. And mold can only be removed after it has been cut out and fully sanitized by the Son. If you never expose it and reveal it. It'll only grow and grow until it kills you. May God bless you all and may God use me to continue his will.

The sorry thing is that my young, restless, and Reformed WTS graduate at the OPC in Crystal Lake, Illinois lectured on these verses I was a new convert in such an indifferent manner so as not to "offend" anyone that everyone left saying, "Oh, isn't that nice?" having done their duty and then proceeded to discuss work, politics, and the Cubs in the vestibule. Would that my now-dead friend who accompanied me had heard THIS interpretation of the Epistle of John, but now he is in hell, and it is TOO LATE, as John MacArthur would say, and his blood is on the hands of the young, restless, and "Reformed" lecturer at the OPC in Crystal Lake. illinois. I LOVE how STRAIGHT and FRANK both John and Dr. Lawson are, and I realize now, as I realize now, as I only vaguely perceived as a new convert, that my OPC was nothing but man-pleasing murky gray. I thought Dr. Lawson's Roman series was fine, but he is outdoing himself in this one. My WTS lecturer would wet his diapers before he would say such things as Dr. Lawson says. My stiff-necked friend was an Ananias but likely never even knew who Ananias was because he was on top of the world, and he returned my gift of a Bible to his niece because she did not "need" it, but God dealt with him, because our knock-kneed, man-pleasing, emasculated, "inoffensive" WTS lecturer would not.

Jesus said that the only way to be SAVED is to be BORN AGAIN...What does this mean? The new birth is not any of the following: baptism, church membership, partaking of communion, reforming one’s life, prayer, or good works. The new birth is a change of heart. God gives us the new birth when we take U turn to Him with remorse for our sinful lifestyle and repent. God sees when we are ready for the new birth. We will know when we are born again. We will have a free conscience, a desire to do right, and an assurance of a home in heaven. Jesus tells us that the gates of heaven are closed to us unless we are born again. Therefore, we ask: Friend, are you born again? Church member, are you born again? If not, then you are lost. For Jesus says, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).

Here's the real deal, when Jesus was before Pilot, Pilot had said to Jesus, I have the "power" to do this or that. He (Pilot) was about to either let Him go or be crucified. Jesus said to Pilot there's no "power" you have over me accept to that which is given to you from above. We don't have power to perform the Word at all. Not even one syllable, there's no good thing that dwells in us period!!! The way you know you can be genuine towards Christ is to simply ask Him that you would have the power and capacity to do His will, and that's it!!! The Chosen I'm not going to say this man is wrong or right But I will tell you what is wrong and right. Ask and it shall be given according to His will. Now I know everybody agrees and understands that!

Righteousness is a gift that is received when we believe the gospel. No man makes himself righteous. AND no man makes himself unrighteous. Unrighteousness is received by being in Adam. Righteousness is received by being in Jesus. Thus, 1 John 1:9 is not about those in Christ, but about those in Adam who "confess" (agree with God) that they have sin which needs forgiven and to be cleansed of all unrighteousness. Forgiveness of sins is in Christ, and is received when we turn to God, having believed that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and raised for our justification. The ONLY people who are lying if they say they have no sin, are those who have not been forgiven or cleansed from all unrighteousness. Obviously, anyone who has been cleansed of all sin (vs 7) by the blood of Jesus, is not lying when they say they have no sin, they would be lying if they said they still have sin, after having been cleansed. What an insult it would be, to the blood of Jesus, to have been cleansed by His blood and still claim you have sin. In Christ, there is none unrighteous. Paul tells us that those who have been reconciled to God are the righteousness of God. Who are we to undue what Christ has done?
@fladoodleflamy

So I agree with you mostly, but are you saying that after being justified as a believer we cannot sin? Isn't that the process of sanctification? Where we are reshaped into a closer (yet never perfect in this world) likeness of Christ? Until we are glorified after our flesh dies? The part I'm confused with is how you say, "they are lying if they say they have sin". Do you mean this as they cannot sin no more (glorified) or they are now not held accountable for the sins they have committed. Because it's nearly impossible to be a perfect sinless human even after justification, that's the process of sanctification we are trying to achieve. But yet despite our depravity, we are forgiven if we were justified.

@@fladoodleflamy Quick question for you, and then I will answer... As a child of God, who / what convicts you of sin?
@fladoodleflamy
@fladoodleflamy 2 жыл бұрын
@@SilasRaven So as a child of God, I would say, since being brought to the light and having truth revealed to me through the word of God by scripture. The spirit that is now dwelling in me convicts me, since it has been made known to me the battle of my flesh and spirit. So my acknowledgement of my sin is now made known to me since I know the truth, though as much as I want to say it is myself that convicts me, I hesitate since knowing past me. I was very happy in sin. But presently I try to battle the temptations of sin (more so lust) by fighting it with prayer and changing of habits. But ultimately it is God that convicts me
@SilasRaven
@SilasRaven 2 жыл бұрын
@@fladoodleflamy Not possible. The Holy Spirit is God, and God no longer takes sin into account. In order for you to be convicted of sin, there must be someone or something to convict you, otherwise, God is unjust. Honestly, I don't think you know what the word "conviction" means. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, if they do not believe in Jesus. He does not convict those in Christ of sin, because He no longer takes their sin into account. You can't convict someone if there is no violation. Believers are not convicted by the Law, because they have died to the Law, and are apart from the Law. "Apart from the Law, sin is dead". You might access your own guilt and conviction, but God does not, and cannot, otherwise it would be an injustice, since Jesus took your sins away, and, as I've already pointed out, God no longer takes sin into account. You have to take sin into account in order to be forgiven of that sin. It's not possible to convict you of something that is not taken into account.

He's wrong. If you are close to the Lord, such closeness excludes any knowledge of sin, for that is why the closeness exists and that is what the closeness consists of. The bible actually teaches that it is not the believer who sins, but sin independent of the believer. (Refer Rom 7:17,20.)

Absolutely wrong. 1 John is written for Christians, to encourage them to fellowship with God, not as a very vague test to test our assurance, which is utterly unbliblical. "That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ." This verse introduces the purpose of the Epistle: "So that you too may have fellowship with us." This is a hina purpose clause with a present active subjunctive. The main theme of the Epistle is fellowship with God and Christ. (John used a hina clause in Revelation, quoting Zechariah, to show that every bit of the book was not written for the church, but for mostly Jewish tribulation saints.)
