Hi I own a brinsea mini advance I currently have chicken eggs in the incubator I set the days to 22 at the start should I go to lockdown when the incubator shows 2 days left as it automatically stops turning when there are two days left or should I turn turning of when it shows 3 days and add the water?

I just leave it on the standard 9 or 10 for all eggs. I don't do anything different because they are Quail, and the same for Geese (although you wouldn't get a goose one in here). If you think of any other incubator, which doesn't have this option, all the eggs will be turned the same. Hope that helps.

I didn't realise that..... must have changed it since the video. I just checked now, and its set on 9. What you can do, is load your eggs in, and watch when they turn. If they are turning to much, then lower it down, not enough, move it up. The beauty of these incubators is you can change it while its running.

You commented that there was a loud noise when the turner operates. Is it loud enough to wake up someone in a nearby room? Did you use the turner every 45 minutes for chicken eggs? Thank you.

Hi I have a brinsea mini advance I am incubating quail eggs the humidty in the incubator is 22% is that ok I live in the uk by the way I have seen people add no water during incubation in the uk

Yes, typically, I wouldn't add any water. Its not about a one time reading, but over the course of the incubation. However, that said, I have added some into my current one, as it was a bit low for a couple of days in a row. And then day 18, you ramp up the humidity, to assist with hatching.

I have added a thermometer to the incubator the thermometer is showing 38.5c but the incubator is showing 37.5c who do I believe? lol

That's the million dollar question! The temperature within the incubator varies, and the thermometers can vary as well, depending on calibration, brand and accuracy. If you put the sensor for the extra thermometer, where the incubator reads, is it the same? I've found that being off by a degree does not make a lot of difference.

The trick is to add 2 freshly calibrated thermometers" trust the 2 out of three that are closest to your goal. temperature.. Small meat thermometers are inexpensive. Make sure the ones that you purchase can be calibrated and read 100°( some start out at much higher temps) So again, if Your incubator reads the same as one or both of the others you're good. If the 2 you added hold at the 100°mark go with those..

Hey did you add water to one half of the water chamber on the 18th fay or did you fll up both sides?

I just filled up both sides. If you have low humidity, I believe its meant to be fill 1 side for the first 18 days, and both for lockdown. But personally, I just add at the end, and filled the chamber.

@@AnnoyDad I have added a thermostat to the incubator it is showing 36.2 but the incubator is showing 37.5 i know someone has alredy asked the same question but my thermostat is showing less

I wouldn't worry to much with this difference, this is quite common. I have it with most of my incubators, even ones that have been calibrated. Just keep an eye on it, and see what happens.

No, I don't. The humidity in the air is enough where I live. The fan keeps the air moving, and brings fresh air in. If your relative humidity is 40% or so, then no need to. I don't with any of our incubators.

They're brilliant little incubators. I can't remember how many hatched, but we had the eggs from eBay if memory serves me well. They also work really well for chicken.
